1. Introduction
1.1 Unilever Global
Unilever is an Anglo-Dutch Multinational Corporation. It has a history of colonial exploitation, under which it has built its capital gradually. Today it owns much of the world’s consumer brands in food, home care and personal care. Unilever employs were more than 247,000 people and the achieved a worldwide revenue of €48 760 million in 2002. Unilever has also two headquarters. One is Unilever PLC in London UK and another one is Unilever NV in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Two of these Unilever headquarters have same directors and operates as a single business. The current chairman of Unilever Global is Michael Treschow while Paul Polman is the CEO. Unilever’s major competitors are Nestle, Kraft and Procter & Gamble.

1.2 History of Unilever
William Hesketh Lever founded Lever brothers in 1885. They started their business as soap producer and made soap factories around the world. In 1917, they added foods, acquiring fish, ice cream and canned foods to their business. In the thirties, Unilever introduced improved technology to their business. They started expanding their business and launched new ventures in Latin America.
Unilever formed in 1930 when Dutch Margarine Company “Margarine Unie” merged with Lever Brothers. Both of the companies were competing for the same raw materials and were involved in producing marketing products in large scale. They both used the similar type of distribution channel. They together had operations in more than 40 countries
Unilever has now crossed more than three centuries. But the major event that influenced Unilever’s success was- economic boom, depression, world wars, and change

    From its genesis Unilever adopted a dual company structure i.e. having two headquarters, one in London (Unilever PLC) and the other in Rotterdam (Unilever NV) which shared a common board of directors with a citizen from each headquarters as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization.
