UNCG Guarantee Scholarship
Being a UNCG Guarantee Scholar is a definite need and aspiration. The primary reason for me wanting this scholarship is to ease the financial pressure my parents will have on them. I don’t want my parents to be overwhelmed with a tremendous financial burden. I have a brother who is a freshman attending UNC-Charlotte and my parents are currently having to support him financially. I would prefer to gain as much scholarship money as possible to lighten the burden on my parents. Therefore, this financial resource will be very effective towards my family’s income. Furthermore, having the chance to be a UNCG Guarantee Scholar is an honor because it gives me the chance to stand out as an exemplary student at UNCG. I believe that students who earn …show more content…
As I develop as a leader, I plan on participating in different activities and events at UNCG. I would like to take advantage of the leadership skills I currently have by reigniting my passion for events I participated in at my high school. I would like to participate in student government, homecoming, dance, and other activities of my interest. Additionally, community service is an important function towards my daily functions. Just as I was involved in my community as well as its surrounding communities, I plan to adopt Greensboro by being hands-on with community improvement, citizen edification, and youth guidance. I would like to be an example to the youth of Greensboro by volunteering to participate in events that target young males. Also, I would like to participate in the upliftment of Greensboro environmentally and socially by partnering with programs that focus on the community and citizens in need located in Greensboro. Humility and compassion are important traits when it comes to executing these contributions and I believe that my character includes those factors. I want to be a leader in this area, not just an attendant. Greensboro’s energy and aspiration metaphorically flows through the city. In recognition of this, I want to be heavily involved in this dynamic community. As stated, this scholarship sets great students

Growing up, I have always had big dreams of what I was going to do when I became older. It’s hard to believe that this stage in life has already arrived, but I know that I’m prepared for it and have great expectations for what is to come. Unfortunately, education is expensive, and my parents have laid the responsibility of paying for college on my own shoulders. I can’t reach my full potential and become the best person I can be without your help in supporting me with financial aid. That is why I exceptionally need this scholarship.…

Being a member of Best Buddies and SAVE, I demonstrate a strong sense of dedication for supporting others and lending a helping hand. The goals of both Best Buddies and SAVE are to further acceptance, embrace diversity, promote safety in schools, and spreading positive energy. As a student representative, my sole objective would be to help enlighten the school board and those in the community about the daily life at MHS, advocate for the 1,600 students currently attending, and respectively relay any helpful amendments that would benefit the Mukwonago Area School District. The multiple clubs I participate in and the copious amounts of friendships I developed with people that have contrasting passions also allow me to speak on behalf of a relatively large group of students. The students taking part in the same activities that I belong to range from freshman to seniors. The opinions of a freshman compared to that of a senior’s may vary drastically, and being a part of clubs with a sample of each year will give me an advantage to hear an assortment of…

One of Boston University’s notable alumni’s once said “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’”. These words spoken by Martin Luther King, Jr. has encouraged me throughout my high school career to not only involve myself in community services but also host events in order to raise awareness to others. I know that BU’s CSC Empowerment League is the perfect fit for me because I can continue to help the community.…

Everyone is aware of the name Wake Forest University carries. Obviously, I too want to be part of the Demon Decan Community. Wake Forest embodies the community spirit that encourages intellectualism and promotes civic engagement. The biggest reason for transferring to Wake Forest University is the philosophy of educating the whole person. As an Aga Khan Foundation Youth Ambassador, I was heavily involved with sustainable projects that had a purpose of solving challenges the ambassadors identified in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Neither of our projects were one day projects, or charitable in any sense. Because the Aga Khan Foundation focuses on sustainable development, the ambassadors make sure to model the work and “Think globally, act locally.” Rooted deep into Wake Forest’s community is the…

Wake Forest has all of the “checklist qualities” I am looking for—a small college with major academic and research prowess. With the benefits of an intimate campus and all the opportunities of a larger school, Wake landed on my list with numerous comparable colleges. As I interviewed with Mr. Tillett, Wake began to stand out from the rest. Our interview would be more properly deemed a conversation, it was dynamic and we discussed everything from Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to Chelsea FC. Our meeting wasn’t about analyzing me, but learning about me. At Wake Forest, I know that I will have a close-knit community where Pro Humanitate isn’t a motto but part of regular life. Such vested interest and investment in each other is something I found…

Although I can’t answer all the questions about how I’ll do it, I’m certain that I want to make a difference in the world. Barnard’s atmosphere and its joint theater program are the main factors that have influenced me to apply. Academically, Barnard is known for its intimate learning environment. I’ve spent my entire life going from one close-knit group to the next. Whether it was Taekwondo, Dance, Theater, or The Commonwealth Governor’s School, each of those groups were empowering, nurturing, and noble in their own individual ways. Barnard embodies all of those qualities, which is what I find attractive. Also, the joint-program for theater really speaks to me because it’s my personal belief that collaborative endeavors create true art. It’s true art that touches the lives of those who work on it and those who see it.…

New Orleans served as the host city for the 2016 leadership development institute (LDI) and committee chair training for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). NACAC, founded in 1937, is an organization of more than 15,000 professionals – both in the US and overseas – who serve students seeking post-secondary education. NACAC’s membership is comprised of professionals on the secondary side, namely high school college counselors as well as community-based organizations and private consultants that serve high school students in the college search process, and those on the post-secondary side, namely admissions counselors, directors of admission, and those in related roles in enrollment management at colleges and universities. NACAC’s 2016 LDI and chair training would bring together the president’s council (president, president-elect, and past president) for 23 national affiliates that represent 50 states and overseas, returning chairs and/or outgoing and rising chairs for 10 standing committees, roughly 15 NACAC Board of Directors, and more than 20 NACAC staff. My role at the meeting is my service as returning chair of the NACAC Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee – of which there are eight…

The reason I believe I should be considered for this scholarship is because I am a very hard worker. I take direction very well , and I want to make something out of my life by furthering my education. My academic plans are to keep attending San Joaquin Delta College , to complete my general education requirements , and transfer to a 4-year college and major in communication and minor in music. One day I would love too become a newscaster . Ever since I was a little boy I dreamt of it ! (Lights , Camera, Action, Reporting The News In Stockton ). Through life I’ve dealt with many problems , but I have never let that stop me , for example I auditioned for American Idol and made it to the third round, but had got cut, I thought my career as a singer was over, but I just kept motivating myself and ended up in this new musical called Damaged.…
