In the article “Twitter as a way for Celebrities to Communicate with Fans: Implications for the Study of Parasocial Interaction” (2014), written by Gayle S. Stever and Kevin Lawson, they explore the relationship between celebrities and their fans and assert that “Twitter” can be utilized in educating us about unreciprocated interactions. Stever and Lawson support their theories by selecting a small group of celebrities, with an abundance of followers and, monitor their activity or ‘tweets’. Additionally, they obtained people that were familiar with Twitter, the coding methodology that they would use, and the celebrities that were to be selected. The authors also emphasize the difference in Twitter in comparison to other social media sites in order to implicate a safe way for celebrities to market themselves and create a safe relationship with their fans. This article is intended for an audience that is interested in social media and its social implications.…
Regardless of the terminology used to categorize the fans, there are typically these types of fans. The “casual fans” are similar to what many people consider fair weather fans. They like a sports team and follow them but are not as dedicated to it as the other two types of fans. I would place myself in the category of a casual fan for most sports teams. I work full time, study full time, and have a newborn in my home. I have not followed any sport team for quite some time because of these responsibilities. I on occasion will be given free tickets to see a sporting event and will usually take the opportunity to go to it. However, I rarely seek to purchase a ticket or focus effort to watch a game on…
People believe that when celebrities use social media it forces upon us a false sense of intimacy and closeness that does not actually exist. Social media makes us think that the stars we love really are just like us because it appears as though these celebrities are making themselves seem like less of a “star” and more like a normal human being. Sure, we see their life on an intimate level through personal pictures and tweets that they choose to post, but in comparison to our friends, we know next to nothing about these celebrities. With that being said, although social media, such as Twitter, has allowed us to have more access to celebrity’s personal lives, we are only exposed to the information…
In King’s article “Why We Crave Horror Movies,” he says, “ We also go to reestablish our feelings of essential normality: the horror movie is innately conservative, even reactionary.” (King par.4) King reveals the feeling’s of every person that goes to see a horror movie because he knows that people want to do something that drives us away from anxiety and into a dangerous situation. Most humans like to live a spontaneous life. They go and do something like ziplining, skydiving, or even watching a horror movie in order for them to not think of anything else but their own life. In Chocano’s article “How Tabloid Train Wrecks are Reinventing Gothic Literature” she says, “Celebrities in the new gossip economy are simply the ghostly, gothic embodiments of our shared anxieties...they’ve willingly become the tragic heroes and doomed heroines in our collective tales of terror, abjection and ridicule.”(Chocano par.13) Celebrities are the ones that have it harder than any of us because they go through so many scary things every single day. From their private lives all out in the open to being threatened by people that hate them, they wake to face all these problems while trying to stay…
The pop culture of any area consists of many factors that ought to be considered when assessing the impact of any one specific icon. American pop culture specifically, has many symbols that represent the many different areas of pop culture and the preferences of the fans. Through an array of examples, the strong influence of celebrities on citizens of America can easily be seen through an analysis of the pop culture. The demographic, style, and behavior are three major areas in pop culture that most clearly show influence of major celebrities.…
Celebrity has no right to privacy because everything they happen in their lives would be spread in a quick second and would be all over social media. If the celebrity is popular they would have less privacy and rights to enjoy due to paparazzi and all the drama they have to handle. There are no charges or harm to paparazzi so people keep doing it by harassing the celebrity personal space by stalking them. I feel like the fans and reporters should respect celebrity's right of privacy because they're normally people like us and should be treated equally. They are being watched for what they do in their everyday life and being judged by foes. I believe the government should start making charges on fans or reporters by taking photos of the celebrity without their consent and posting it on the internet. This has been an issue for a large amount of…

Social media has made a massive impact on our culture. One of the areas that has not been affected is professional sports. In today’s world, professional sports teams and players from around the world use social media to connect with their global fan bases. Sports teams attempt to build a larger, stronger fan base by engaging fans through social media sites. Additionally, social media sites allow professional athletes to increase their marketability. However, they can also severely damage their career, personal life, and their ‘brand’ if they do not handle their social media interactions with care (Van Schaik). Twitter and Facebook allow teams and players to be interactive and personal with fans. They can use these platforms to not only deliver basic team news updates, but to share information about autograph signings, charity events, or ticket specials too. One of the most important aspects of any sports team is that they have a loyal, growing fan base that feels like they are valued and appreciated. Therefore, these fans will stand by their team through thick and thin. Social media provides the perfect opportunity for that. Sports teams and athletes are becoming more and more efficient at using social media to create a positive impact on their team and their fan’s.…
In the modern life, media always play a significant role in affecting the culture and society behavior. Because of its extensive network, every content which was performed on media, have a significant effect on the popular culture. Also, the social network is diverse, despite the national news and show, media also show music show, entertaining show, and even celebrities daily life. So, what people want to see the most on media and news? According to "Celebrity Culture", Howard Altman claim that celebrities are the most thing that people would pay attention. As a result, media and newspaper focus more on celebrities activities to meet the audiences want. Therefore, stars are critical in the society not only because they are famous, but they can also affect to people mind, their interested and even the culture.…
Jenkins emphasises the fans position within society being labelled automatically within society as one’s whose “interests are fundamentally alien to the realm of “normal” cultural experience and whose mentality is dangerously out of touch with reality”, the ‘reality’ for what it is conventionally assumed to be with regards to what is seen as ‘normal’ (Jenkins, 1992). The fan or people whom find themselves within a community (a fan culture) are isolated to those who do not find themselves in that culture. The stereotyped fan is seen as a threat to the norm for the fan allows for the “projection of anxieties about the violation of dominant cultural hierarchies” as a result of possessing a different taste (within their relevant fan culture).…
Standing in line at the supermarket or walking down the streets in some cities, we see magazines or tabloids that have celebrites faces plastered on them in sometimes disapproving situations. We never wonder how the pictures got taken or what lengths it took to get such an amazing or sometimes horrid shot.…
You know, people who are famous hold a lot of power. And with power comes the ability to change people, events, and history. Celebrities are leaders who have an army of fans that will back them up, dress like them, act like them, and at the deepest level, wanna be like them. When I was at the Taylor Swift concert a few days ago, I noticed all the girls were dressed like Taylor! A lot were blonde and had a very thin frame too. It was quite interesting to notice.…

The initial manufacturing of electric fans originated from India approximately in the year 1921. This growing industry entails the assembling and completion of various fans, such as ceiling fan, table fans, wall fans, pedestal fans, exhaust fans among many other types, with ceiling fans dominating the market demand. The challenge within the industry is unfortunately decreasing. As the peak season of production arises there is a shortage in the component supply (Sridharan, 2009). In efforts to recertify this growing concern a short term forecast and demand pattern analysis was completed by Ravi Kumar upon the requested of the local fan manufacturers association (Sridharan, 2009). Considering all known factors, unknown factors in conjunction with the testing of three forecasting methods to determine the smallest error; the regression analysis was most feasible. After a thorough evaluation of the case, it is conclusive that the regression analysis predicts a long term increase in demand; therefore an investment to increase production should be implemented to meet this demand.…
