Tri-Town Head Start Case Study
Tri-Town Head Start participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and serves meals at no separate charge to all enrolled children. The reimbursement received from the CACFP helps with our food costs, and therefore, enables us to keep our fees for care as low as possible.

Please help us comply with the requirements of the USDA’s CACFP program by completing, signing, and returning the attached Meal Benefit Form (MBF) to the center as soon as possible. All children enrolled in our center receive their meals at no separate charge, but the determination of eligibility category affects the amount of funding received by our center. This information is necessary to receive the reimbursement for the meals we serve to children in our program.

The Head Start program was created to provide low income children and their families education, health, and social services. Head Start edibility includes families meeting the poverty level in order to enroll their child in early readiness school. However, the program has barriers which exclude families of upper class from enrolling children. Families that have a higher income have a disadvantage from these programs because the Head Start Program is for families of lower income. I serve the food of the center provide. I encourage the children to eat their breakfast, lunch, and snacks. CACFP promotes school-readiness by providing nutritious meals - programs may serve up to two meals and one snack per day - that aid children’s cognitive and physical development. Studies show that CACFP meals are nutritionally superior to those served to children in child care settings that don’t participate in the program. The program can also supplement the budgets of low-income families and child development providers. The menu is from Business Food Solution. I feel as if it tries to give a variety and different combinations daily.…

For this assignment, I conducted much research on the Head Start Program. Head Start is a child development program, which provides aid and assistance to financially less fortunate families. It serves children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. Head Start is child centered and focuses much attention on preparing young children from low-income families for school. Head Start helps parents improve their basic literacy, numeric skills and employability skills. It promotes children's developmental growth through early childhood education. The Head Start program holds classes, which instruct parents on how to promote their child's cognitive, social, language, and physical development. This program is of great importance, and coincides to what we are learning about in class. It attempts to break the cycles of poverty and lack of education of those living in paucity. It prepares the poorest children in our nation for kindergarten and beyond. Across the country, thousands of families reap the benefits of Head Start.…
