Toulmin Argument Analysis: Major Of Biomedical Science
I find the Toulmin method helpful in explaining and breaking down what a good argument looks like. It’s a purely logical method of making a claim based upon opinion but using facts warrants and backing to support the initial claim. I’ve noticed this argument model being used in news channels, economic debates, and some medical fields. When I applied this to my chosen major of biomedical engineering, I noticed that the Toulmin method is used quite often in lower scale research projects. Regarding small projects like minor adjustments for a new model of a stethoscope, this model can be used to defend the engineer that believes that the chosen stethoscope can be upscaled.
