INTRODUCTION

Many parents that are going to other country, to have a job and to work hard.

Because of the financial problems but they doing this for their children they want to have

a better life to be a successful. We all know that it’s hard for us to be a part to the people

that every day we want their love, care & support. But the most of the time this is the

reason why the Academic Performance of a child affects the Absence of their parents.

They can’t focus because no one is there to guide them and no one can help them to their

problems.

Theoretical Framework

Otherwise known as the absence of parent’s hypothesis, the parental loss perspective is

based on the notion that children who lose a parent, regardless of the reason, have lower level of

well-being and academic achievement as a result of experiencing socialization. When a child is

reared in a father or mother absent in home, the main agent of socialization becomes primarily

the single father or mother. Though fathers or mothers without the biological fathers may be able

to maintain the home and childrearing by themselves once a father or mother is absent, children

still experience a deprivation of resources that the father or mother could contribute to the home

if he or she were present. These include interpersonal relationships, economic resources, and a

male or female role model, all of which cannot be fulfilled by the father or mother simply

putting more time into childrearing, thus illustrating different roles of fathers and mothers play

and the importance of each in a child’s development.

In addition, the parental loss perspective asserts that children with deceased fathers or

mothers would have more negative outcomes than children with divorced parents or absence of

parents for other reasons. This premise arises from the suggestion that this absence of parents can

still influence the socialization of children through the contact they have with their children,

whether the contact is little or abundant.
