Througout Isaiah Essay
Isaiah highlighted for me just how ugly sin really is. Througout Isaiah, we are shown a people who are so busy willingly chasing after the flashy lures of sin that they could not look up, to the goodness and glory of God. Sin blinded and and bound the people, and they refused to be made well. It can be hard to understand how Israel could be set so stubbornley in their rebellion.
Yet, as I think about it, I am struck by just how similar we are to Israel. I believe that God created human beings with an intrisic attraction towards things that are attractive . We were created to love beauty! In case you haven't noticed, however, people today have a twisted definition of beauty. It is almost like, as Israel, we have thrown God's standard of reality out in place of our own. I often wonder how it makes God feel when we toss aside the …show more content…
The God who has measured the waters in the palm of His hand. The God who sits above the circle of the earth. The God who created the universe. The God who cannot be compared to anything made by human hands. The God of Isaac, the God of Jacob. The everlasting God, who never faints or gets tired. I most often want to give my best to myself, but God demands the keys and the driver seat. Who are we to stand in His way?
Despite our shortcomings however, the book of Isaiah shouts the message of hope to the hopeless. It fills me with hope to know that despite their sin, God still forgave, and had plans to make His prodigal Israel prosper. It makes me think that if God can redeem them, then He can redeem me. On those days when I feel distant or scared, I can rest in the fact that God upholds me with His right hand.
To close, I would like to ask you all a question that may prove to be alltogether too personal. How do you guys keep your eyes fixed on God on a daily basis? Do you wake up early to read the Bible before starting your day? Do you memorize scripture, or read a devotional over
