ABSTRACT This paper is made to provide the real examples of the use of the standard and non-standard variation taken from Love Actually movie. It aims to analyze the factors and its relation towards the use of language variation, and the category in which the language variations occur in the movie. The objects of analysis are the Prime Minister and his maid, Natalie. To collect the data, it uses film analysis method supported by movie maker software and dialogue transcripts as the instruments. It is reviewed the theory about language variations and the influencing factors of it. The study shows that the standard and non-standard variation found are influenced by socioeconomic class and social network, also the variations are found in the Prime Minister’s and Natalie’s dialect.

INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND
Sociolinguistics is a study relates to the use of language itself in the society with the goal to understand the language structure and the function of language in the communication (Wardhaugh, 1992: 13). In this study, language and society are two elements that underlie this field of study. Society is a community in which interaction must take place and language is the facilitator of the interaction itself. In fact, society takes many different forms that affect the variations of language use.
There are many variations of language; two of them are Standard and Non-Standard Variation. Every language has standard and non-standard variation, even British English – a language that most of people see as a
