The Root Cause Analysis: Causes Of Conflict In The Workplace
Today I chose to talk about a conflict that I recently encountered at work. The conflict happened during a sport event. My co worker and I were working as a food vendor inside a booth 10x10 during a tournament of softball. The products sold were fruit smoothies and Hawaiian coffee. The conflict happened when we ran out of gasoline for the generators and I promptly went to get the fuel at the gas station. In particular the coworker after my return complained that a client left because making a smoothie took too long due to issues with the second generator. The blender didn’t work and the employee didn’t know how to turn it on and make it work again. Also the employee complained that my cellphone was unavailable to receive calls. The co worker …show more content…
I will analyze and include all of them to find a solution to this problem. RCA also “assumes that systems and events are interrelated. An action in one area triggers an action in another, and another, and so on. By tracing back these actions, you can discover where the problem started and how it grew into the symptom you're now facing”(Mindtools.com, n.d., 2017).
1. Define the problem; what do you see happening? What are the specific symptoms to the problem?Since I left my co worker to go grab some fuel for the generators, the main generator stopped working, apparently for overload. The employee felt unmotivated and angry because He didn’t get the chance to serve the customer quickly which left disappointed. The symptoms to the problem are anger and dissatisfaction.
2. Collect data; What proof do you have that the problem exists? How long has the problem existed? What is the impact of the problem? Proof that the problem exist is that the sale didn’t happen. Also another proof is that the blenders were not working properly and the employee was unable to make the drink for the customer. The problem existed since I left to get some gasoline, the generators stopped working after few minutes of my non attendance at the event. The problem has directly impacted the customer that left the booth without a smoothie, and not happy for the service given. It also led our imagine of serious and reliable food vendor

Identify possible causal factors; What sequence of events leads to the problem? What conditions allow the problem to occur? What other problems surround the occurrence of the central problem? The customer asked for a product and the employee immediately started to prepare the drink. The blender turned on for few seconds and suddenly turned back off, making the preparation of the beverage impossible. The conditions that created the problem to occur are an overloads of the electric capacity of the generator which cause the malfunction and successively the shutdown of it. The co worker was not enough trained and ready to reset the generator and put it back to work. The employee tried to contact me to solve the problem but the phone didn’t work and the call didn’t go

There are four main issues that have resulted in major company problems. The first is the resiliency of the company culture. Problems such as low productivity cannot be properly addressed unless the culture is capable of changing to promote the necessary changes. The second major cause is the inability to monitor and measure performance. Thirdly, the company has not properly determined who needs what training. In addition, the mechanics’ past injuries have contributed to absenteeism. Finally, the old fleet of buses is unreliable and has left passengers stranded or caused them to be late.…
