If a dog park is built, will there be space available for an affordable recreation facility?…
My second reason why I would disagree with building a dog park near home owners would cause a disturbance.…
5. The benefit forgone is the benefit of constructing a dog park. The gross benefit of having the park built is $125,000 per acre; so the net benefit is $625,000. The opportunity cost of not building the park is $3,625,000. Despite holding the largest sum of money, the alternate decision to not build the park leaves less space and recreation. The majority of residents in town are registered pet owners.…
First, they mentioned the traffic congestion being an issue near any park that is built. Traffic should not be any more of an issue with a dog park than it would be with a park for children, a local coffee shop or movie theatre. This appeared to me as more of a grasp for straws in their argument rather than a legit concern for the community.…
Having a dog park in a residential area, for the most part, would be very convienient. Some animals owners don't have the yard space for them to run around and to get the excercise they need. Dogs have needs just as much as humans do. But, the citizens do need to consider the down side of having a dog park.…
Around the early 80’s Pitbull’s followed their small companions all over, Pitbull owners and the public eye noticed this and the love for Pitbull’s grew. everyone stated labeling the Pitbull as a loving, stable breed and soon named them the nanny dog! In the early 90’s Out of nowhere pit bulls were recognized for having a so-called flip of a switch behavior, said “(www.alternet.org)”. Attack after attack in news headlines lead the breed onto a dark road, labeling pits as monsters followed by horror stories of lock jaw incidents and even death scenarios. As of September 2014, no states have enacted breed-specific laws, BSLs Banning pit bulls. However, there are over 700 U.S. cities in 40 states that have enacted these bans.” According to “(www.Reference.com)” because of certain situations.…
I believe that dogs should not be allowed at work for many reasons, First of all, some dogs do not know how to behave themselves in public areas, such as work or the office. If a dog bites someone or hurt someone, the injured person can sue the company or the dog owner. Secondly, if a dog is allowed in a work enviroment then the company will have to make sure that all of their employees are not allergic to dogs, and that means the company may have to fire and hire new people just to replace the old employees who were allergic to dogs. It just isnt fair to people who are allergic to dogs or just dont like dogs, because you could be the greatest worker for the company.…
There is no question that dog-bites and related injuries are a problem in many areas of the country. Statistics indicate that every year in the United States, approximately 4.7 million people suffer dog bites, of which, 800,000 seek medical attention, 386,000 require emergency medical treatment, and 12 result in death (Weise, 2005). In addition, according to the Center for Disease Control, reports of people being attacked by vicious dogs is on the rise (One Bite and Fido’s Out, 2006). Pressure from the private sector and the media pushed legislators to make hasty decisions. Proposed breed specific bans and restrictions were made by law makers in frenzied attempts to protect the public from…
As a young child my family had a dog. We loved to play with him, but noticed that we had limited yard space to play games such as fetch or even tag. We lived in a small apartment complex, and were forbidden to enter other neighbors yard. My sisters and I felt that a dog park in our town would be just enough space to play without the drama of disrubting the neighbors. In the passage, Gizmo's owner strongly believes that there should be a dog park in his town of Muscatine, Iowa. I as a previous dog owner my self believe that this would be a great idea.…
National parks definitely have a big significance in American history that is not even a question. What is questioned is just how important national parks are. People like Wallace Stegner, or Ken Burns believe that national parks are America’s best idea; however, people like Clay Jenkinson, director of The Dakota Institute, or Alan Spears, of High County News, would agree that National parks are indeed not the greatest idea of America. Clay Jenkinson directly said, “National parks are not America’s best idea” (The National Parks; America’s Best Idea). Obviously it is a split issue on just how important the National Parks really are but clearly National Parks is not America’s greatest ide.…
Service dogs are individually trained for a specific purpose. Many people that have a disability use service dogs. Disabled people that require them would not be able to be a part of mainstream America without them. Congress has felt the need to create laws regarding service dogs. Having a service dog can help many people. My service dog is useful in assisting me to keep my balance and mobility. Some dogs are needed for the blind in order to be their eyes, some detect seizures and some alert to allergies. Service dog laws exist, unfortunately law enforcement, business owners and the public are not always aware of the laws for service dogs. As a disabled individual, I am allowed to enter a business…
A new law says that only dogs are allowed to help people in public places. I feel that the law is not necessary. Other animals should be allowed to go in public places too especially if they are a service animal. Monkeys work really hard at a place in Boston called “Helping Hands” so they can help people in need. Also other animals have other talents that dogs do not have. So if a person would like something to drink a dog can pour their owner something to drink.…
1. What is your opinion on this issue? Provide two or three reasons to support your argument. I feel that only a person with a disability should be allowed to have a dog at work. A person who is just an owner of a dog should not be allowed to bring a dog into the workplace simply for the fact that a dog cannot be dependable or trustworthy of their actions. An employee may be uncomfortable when a dog comes into the workplace and start sniffing around them. The employee do not know what the dog will do if the employee becomes afraid of it. These situations open up liabilities against the company.…
A Word on Animal Sanctuaries. An animal sanctuary should be just that: a peaceful place for rescued animals. Animals should not be required to interact with the public. Nor should the promotional literature of sanctuaries include photos of animals dressed up, or performing human-like activities for the amusement of the readers. Animals in refuges should be rehabilitated and returned to freedom, or, if that is not possible, permitted to live as close as possible to the way they would live independently. Animal refuges should not serve or sell animal products. Read more…
