The Planet Uranus
The planet Uranus was discovered in the late 1700’s by William Herschel, and this marked a whole new age of discovery because it was the first planet to be discovered in recorded history. He decided to improve astronomy by building a new telescope to look at the sky without his work being hindered by the quality of the current telescopes. Because he improved the technology of astronomy, he was able to get more involved in observing and searching for objects and other life in the night sky. While looking through his telescope Herschel came across what he thought to be a comet, but was unable to communicate with other astronomers because they could not see it with their lower grade telescopes. Another astronomer, Nevil Maskelyne, finally saw
