Through this parable, Kenneth Blanchard and Spenser Johnson seek to show most effective management approach. The book include topics on motivating, appraisals, and sanctions. The use of parable not only simplifies the concepts but also makes you feel less attached, especially if you are at a managerial position. After each chapter, notes are provided which proves to be an effective summary of it. The book is filled with attractive and effective quotes like “the best minute I spend is the one I invest in people” and “everyone is a potential winner, some people are disguised as losers, don’t let their appearance fool …show more content…
The communication with staff should be clear and simple as the staff would respond better when they have clarity with what is to be done.
Overall I think that “the one minute manager” I s a great book. The three techniques are clear, easy to understand and overall very easy to implement at your workplace. I think that the book is worth the time or money.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has sold over 13 million copies which speak for itself.I highly recommend you to pick up a copy.
I will definitely recommend this book to anyone who aspires to become an effective manager. The book is written in simple prose and is to the point, it sheds light on the core of people management. The very basic things like the importance of feedback, winning confidence of people who work for you, keeping balance in quantity and quality: these concepts are covered under the shed of human resource management.
The book is not technical, rather it provides basic and practical ways to become a people’s manager. Examples used in the book are quite interesting and simple to understand. I would specifically mention the way it describes the method of training a parrot to do a set of activities and how it trains the whale to jump higher, by increasing the distance from the food one inch at a
