Help me!” Came the call from behind the steel door. Jackson looked startled and said, “We need to help them!” They ran to the door the sound was coming from and opened it. The yelling stopped, as if it was planned. As the boys entered, the tension was high. Palms were sweaty and the sound of their heavy breathing was the only sound. In a cautious tone, Cedric yelled out, “Hello! Is anyone there?” He was replied with some distant clanking. “I don’t like this” Max whispered, “I feel like we are being watched.” They continued walking and heard the door shut behind them. Everett Gray couldn’t tell you the last time he could properly breathe. Even during hockey competitions, there had always been an issue where he couldn’t quite get the amount of air that he really needed to keep going. Sweat would run down his cold skin, as he pulled at the collar of his uniform. His chest would heave, yet all the air seemed to get stuck in his throat, turning into a suffocating lump. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, but he refused to make a move to look at the messages being sent.…

Needing a quiet place to think Jaxson immediately turned and ran out into the back yard. Darting every which way he came to a sudden stop and opened a door to a small little fort he built when he was seven. Bending down to fit into the tight space he slowly lowered himself to ground level. Grabbing the book he slid it on to his lap. Confused he opened the dreadful thing and saw the same frightening letters like before. Rubbing his hands over his face he had no clue what was going on.…

Thankfully, George didn't seem to be mad at me. He didn't seem to be mad at me at all. We were both beside the brush far away from the ranch, infront of a vast river. Across the river was the Gabilan mountain range, which reminded me of the rabbits that I would soon be able to tend with George. I asked him to tell me about the other guys an' about us, like he's done before. Then I asked him to tell me how it's gonna be in the future, at our farm. I love it when he talks about the farm, and the way he describes it is so dreamy. Once again, it felt as if I fell into a deep trance by George's words; I could imagine all the rabbits and the alfalfa, the cows, pigs, and chickens.. All in our very own farm where we have our own freedom. As George…

The patter of the rain on the pavement presented a bathetic atmosphere. Perched atop a decaying warehouse, I sense an ominous situation occurring. A scream. The pounding of feet. More screaming. I look for the source of commotion. Crossing the rutted roof to the next alleyway, I look down below to see three burly men taking advantage of a girl attempting to walk home at night. Fixing the mask upon my head, I plunge to the alley floor. This ain’t happenin’. Not to my girl. Displaying my powers, webs jut out from my wrists and connect with the villainous men. Tossing them to the side like they were nothing, the crooks realized that they weren’t messing with an ordinary bystander. As the men run off and I know I have completed my job,…

It was a hot afternoon and i was setting by the river thinking when i saw my boy sam running towards me like his behind was on fire. His face looked frightened, so much like his father’s. He said that Mr. Finch and Cal just drove into our yard in those fancy automobiles that costs way too much. My heart started beating so fast but i still had hope. He could be here because they realized Tom was innocent and he was finally coming home to us. When i got to my home, I saw my children playing a game with their marbles. I saw Mr. Finch standing there with a look of sorrow on his face. He looked at me with regret. He didn't have to say anything because i just knew, I just knew he was gone. My knees gave out all of a sudden, I collapsed to the dirt. I wished that the ground would swallow me up. I was not strong for this, i'm still not. I held back my screams that will break out any minute. I have to put a straight face for my kids, i’m all they have now.…

Title I know, breaking the law in 9023 isn’t exactly the best way to get attention. That morning I was scared and devastated to go back to that shop Milwards that day. Although father forced me he still doesn’t believe what he’s done while I was going to the shop people kept on talking quietly but I knew they were talking behind my back as it was just obvious. I was shocked as father didn’t want the matter to go out in public due to his reputation and his honour. I was ashamed to be walking in the street that morning but I had learnt my lesson which other people didn’t know. I was in the shop and suddenly I had a flashback I can just remember. The previous summer was quite strange as I was very suspicious that day as I felt Gerald’s s absence. During this time I felt he must been having a affair, I couldn’t suspect anything else due to the fact of his absence. I can remember that very night when the inspector came home, inspector Goole he seemed a bit curious at first and said we had killed this girl called Eva smith I didn’t really recognize that girl or heard her name before. I was astonished to know father had something to do with this.…

Sergeant Joseph, my partner, and I stand, nearly freezing, on the outside of two grand, blue-silk painted double doors. A neighbor of the resident living at this address had rang our office at an unwelcomed hour to alarm us of a “suspicious shriek,” as she called it, coming from this specific household. I could be at the station right now, reviewing over-due reports and snacking on the creamed cherry coated muffins form Ms. Clarisse down at the courthouse. (She always likes to spoil us.) Despite the depressing darkness of the night and ice cube envy of a temperature, old Jo and I figured it to be the responsible thing to do to check out the scene.…
