Dramatic Monologue
Scenario: After the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, the nurse is reminiscing at what happened. This monologue is set inside Juliet’s room with other staff of the Capulet house.
[Look at picture of Juliet] Oh Juliet, my gorgeous, fair, young maiden [Touch the face of Juliet in the photo frame]. Lifeless because she loved too well and could not go through without the man of thy dreams. None, but that of Romeo, son of Montague. Although he was a Montague, he was the finest gentleman for my dear Juliet. He would give everything to her even if it is worth his life.
[Look at one of the staff] Who would have thought…..a Capulet and a Montague? They were the star-crossed lovers that would end their family feud with their …show more content…
[Sits down] She was so happy that she had found someone whom she could love and love her back the way no one ever could. There is no way that I could tell her to stop seeing him, it would have broken her heart. [Pause] By going to see Romeo on Juliet’s request, I got caught up in something I did not want to be caught up in. But I do not regret seeing Romeo for he was a courteous, young gentleman which I can say is entirely different from his friends, especially that of Mercutio. [Shouts] That rude Mercutio! I will never forget what he said about me. [Talk in a masculine voice] “Good, Peter, to hide her face, for her fan’s the fairer face”. I cannot believe that Romeo would be friends with that insolent….. [Pause, shake her head and then smile]. His smile is still stuck in my head when I told him that Juliet would be at Friar Laurence’s cell at noon, he was so happy. [Folds Juliet’s wedding dress] I had never seen Juliet so happy when I told her “Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’s cell. There stays a husband to make you a wife.” [Pause and …show more content…
Even though he was taking vengeance for Mercutio, I still cannot believe that Romeo was capable of doing such a vile deed. It truly broke my dear Juliet’s heart as soon as she found out what happened. Her father told her to marry Paris or else she will be disowned. According to her, she would rather have married her grave than a man who she did not love. [Pause then speak in a very gentle voice] But despite that, she chose to stay with Romeo. In saying that, obviously, her love for Romeo was unquestionable. It was really heart melting to see her so upset. She pushed me away after suggesting that she should marry Paris [Pause and take a deep breath] it was absolutely unbearable [Deep breath] it was the last time I saw
