The Mistakes of Our Ancestors
We need history so that we will not commit the same mistakes as our ancestors. A sad thing is that even though we learn the past and know what to do and not to do we still do it anyway that's why history seems to repeat itself so many times.
History also helps when u start to work if you're a lawyer and u get a case and you have no idea of how to help your client you can go back into history and see how another lawyer deled with a similar case in the past. Another profession history could help with is architecture u can see what types off buildings have worked best in deferent situations in the past and u can see were designs have worked in the past. Another job you could use history in is medicine u can go back in history and see how diseases have been miss diagnosed in the past and how to avoid making the same mistake. According to Greek mythology, the grief’s of life came into existence as a result of the introduction of a woman into a purely man inhabited world. The gods were said to have only created men, until Zeus became angry with mankind and devised the most horrible punishment he could conceive, creating Woman. Zeus instructed the smith of the gods,
Hephaestus, to create her from the materials of earth and make her irresistibly beautiful. Each of the Greek gods gave her a gift of skill, and aptly named her Pandora, meaning "all gifted." The messenger god, Hermes, with his winged sandals, took Zeus' ghastly creation down to earth, and with her a box given to her by the gods with instructions that it never be opened. One of the gifts that the gods had bestowed upon Pandora was a lively curiosity. After restraining her eagerness to view the contents of the box, Pandora finally lifted the lid and mistakenly released all nature of evil into the world: sickness, hatred, jealously, suffering, and greed. Just as each of the gods had endowed Pandora with a wonderful gift, so had they each stored in the box the greatest evil they could create. Pandora

Jared Diamond is a scientist and is the author of “The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race.” The article isn’t the clearest on what could be better. Would the human race have been better off living with the need to hunt and gather for their life, or would agriculture be the key to the survival for the human race? Jared believes moving back to a hunting/gathering lifestyle would be beneficiary to us. I believe Jared Diamond makes some great points, but that agriculture was a necessity for what we’ve accomplished.…

Her name means ‘all gifts’ as she was the creation of the Gods. Many of the Gods put in different characteristics to help form her. She can also be interpreted, as being the mother of all things as the descendants of Pandora was the women race. Pandora was an etiological myth meaning it explained the origin of women, marriage and suffering in the world. Zeus offered Pandora to Epimetheus as a trick similar to that of the sacrifice. She held beauty on the outside but had the ‘soul of a bitch’ on the inside. This can be due to the character given to Pandora by Hermes, lies and cunning ways. From this Pandora’s curiosity could not contain itself and the jar given to her by Zeus was opened. Strangely enough it is not mention by Hesiod that Pandora was not allowed to open the jar, perhaps this was obvious to the readers however Epimetheus was told not to accept any gifts from the Gods and disobeyed. Perhaps the more evident message here is that mans’ greediness and constant disobedience of the Gods results badly. In the jar however, contained all the horrible things in the world like disease, labour, misery and death. Zeus punished Prometheus for stealing fire, but he also punished man by imposing what Hesiod regarded as the greatest affliction of all; women. “They’ll pay for fire; ill give another gift to men, an evil thing for their delight”. Amongst all…

First, Zeus commissioned his fellow gods to make a beautiful woman from clay and bring her to life. When this was done, he and all of the gods taught her how to behave and get on in society. Now, Zeus was ready to bring revenge to the world. He put Pandora on the earth and offered her in marriage to Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus, who, though he had been warned not to, accepted Zeus' beautiful gift and married Pandora. As a wedding present, Zeus gave the happy couple one thing: a small with a large lock and instructions never to open it under any circumstances. All was well until one day, eaten away with curiosity, Pandora could not restrain herself any longer: she opened the box, sending out awful things which were shaped like biting moths. Out flew such things as sickness, famine, and poverty, all biting Pandora and leaving her with awful wounds. At this she screamed out in pain and slammed the box shut, filled with regret for her actions. She was too late, though, for when her husband rushed in and found her with the box, all of the…

In Jared Diamond's article "The Worst Mistake in Human History," he describes the adoption of agriculture as a catastrophy. At first mention, this sounds rediculous. Surely this porgession was not catastrophic.…

I don’t know how to drive, but I’ve heard that your rearview mirror is extremely important, as is history. It’s like looking behind you, or that phrase, “How do you know where you’re going, if you don’t know where you’ve been?” History can be boring, but generally when it’s boring, it’s probably being told wrong. People and stories are interesting and they make up who we are, and we need them. If we toss out that mirror (our history), we’re likely to back-up into something nasty or get rear-ended. The moral is, if we know our history we can avoid making some large mistakes, because we’ll be able to see a little better what could happen.…

    Comparing Pandora and Eve

Pandora was the first human woman created in Greek mythology. She was created to punish mankind for the gift of fire, given by Prometheus. Representing divinity, fire was an asset intended for the gods/goddesses. Once human men acquired this gift, the separation between the gods/goddesses and mortals was diminished. Zeus was outraged by this blurring of divine lines, and upon his order, Pandora was fashioned of “water and earthy” by Hephaestus. Athene, Hermes, and the other gods/goddesses of Mount Olympus each played a role in her formation, infusing her some of their celestial essence. Appropriately named, Pandora means “all-gifts” or “the source of all gifts”. Pandora, in her apparent perfection, was presented to Epimetheus (brother of Prometheus) as a gift, and the two wed. Pandora had with her a jar (or a box) from Zeus. According to Hesiod’s Works of Days, Pandora’s jar was filled with terrors such as misery, sorrow, evil, and disease. Pandora opens the jar, unleashes these infestations onto mankind, then slams the jar closed. The only item left in the jar was hope. Hesiod argued that even hope was a curse, implying that was merely a “false hope” that prevented mankind from accepting their impending doom.…

Pandora is Hesiod’s representation for a female, an attractive decoy, sexually alluring. Zeus wanted “to make a face such as goddesses have and the shape of a lovely maiden” (Hesiod 45).
