The Myth of Pandora’s Box. What is The Myth of Pandora’s Box? To answer your question the myth starts off where Pandora was created. She was said to be the first woman on earth. Pandora was created by gods; each god had given her a gift, plus, Pandora’s name in greek means “the one who bears all gifts”. Pandora had been created to be a punishment to all of mankind; Zeus really wanted to punish people because the titan Prometheus had stolen the fire and gave it to them. Her gifts (Pandora) were meant to be evil in a beautiful way, but according to Hesiod . Zeus’s son (Hephaestus) created Pandora from clay, but instead shaping her perfectly. Aphrodite had given Pandora femininity and Athena had taught her crafts. Hermes was also ordered by Zeus to have taught Pandora how to be deceitful, stubborn and curious.

The gods told her that the box had contained the special gifts she had received from them, but she was not allowed to open the box EVER! Hermes then took her to Epimetheus, who just so happened to be the brother of Prometheus, just to be his wife. Prometheus, had told Epimetheus to not accept anything given to him from the gods, he then noticed Pandora and was quickly attached to her by her beauty, Epimetheus then accepted her. Meanwhile, Pandora had been trying to control her curiosity. Pandora couldn’t do it anymore. She wasn’t able to hold it in any longer. Pandora did not listen to what the gods had told her and she opened the box. All of the illnesses and hardships that the gods had have put into the box were set free. Pandora was very scared,because she was seeing all of the evil spirits coming out. She had tried to close the box as fast as she could, closing all hope
