"Fifty three years have passed, but it often feels as if it happened yesterday," affirms George Rains while answering questions for this interview. On Nov. 22, 1963, George Rains, a sophomore in high school, witnessed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in downtown Dallas. That afternoon he encountered Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin, and they shared a Coca Cola in the book depository and later he stood on the grassy knoll and remembers the smell of gunpowder. Those specific memories of his could not possible be true, however, there is a phenomenon called the Mandela Effect and it could explain why George has such vivid memories of Dealy Plaza in 1963.
