The Importance Of Marriage In The United States
The United States Constitution clearly states that all men are equal and are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ("The Constitution of the United States," Amendment 5), but somewhere along the way many people turned astray and thus homophobia was formed. The belief that love should only exist between man and woman is very much alive causing dispute across the nation. Should we really judge each other on our own personal desires? At some point we must stop focusing so deeply on the lives of others or we will not be able to live our own. I believe that just because someone doesn’t share the same beliefs does not make them any different or less than a person. In fact, the beautiful thing about humans is that we are all different. We love different, we laugh different, and we can learn something new from every single person that we meet, if given the proper chance. We should all, feel free to pursue what truly makes us happy and I believe no one would enjoy being shunned for doing so. If two men or two women want to pursue a relationship together, I feel that it should be supported and accepted just as a man and a woman. We are all equal and no marriage should be considered more valid than the other. When the LGBT community becomes fully accepted the church and state will no longer be divided, violence and protests will halt, and so many children will be united with parents who love them. Gay marriage will not harm the institution of marriage. Homosexual couples want to be together for the same reasons as heterosexual couples, to express their love for each other. We should not teach the younger generations to exclude anyone for their love preference. Acceptance of the gay community recognizes our reality which could make us a better nation. If we compromise our equal rights, they are no longer equal
