I’m also determined to work hard this school year and the next three that follow to complete my goal. Another goal I would love to complete is getting a doctorate in the profession, I decide to take part in. One more goal I’m working hard at is getting good grades. I feel a succeeding grade point average is three-point eight. Even though I see that as succeeding, I’m still going to try to get a three-point nine grade point average or higher overall this school year and the following school years. So, those are just some of my goals I would like to complete. I have many more goals I hope to complete, with hard work hopefully my goals will be completed. Grit is the strength of character and is seen differently by everybody such as how Dr. Duckworth sees it and myself. Dr. Duckworth states in her interview with “Ted Talk” that it’s how much passion a person has, how much stamina they have in achieving their long term goal. Unlike Dr. Duckworth I believe that a person’s mindset plays a major part in grit and I also believe you have to be optimistic and have the resilience to be a gritty person. Dr.Duckworth’s article on grit discusses the importance and the differences of grit.…

The first time I experience grit was when I first went skiing for my first time at Sundown, which is a ski resort near Dubuque. At first I did not like skiing, because I would always fall, but I was determined to be a good skier. By my second time at Sundown I started to get the hang of it. By my third night I could go down all the hills in a controlled manner, then I started to really enjoy skiing. I then found out if I keep on working and try my hardest on something it will always pay off in the end. Grit made me take something I dislike, and made it into one of my favorite things to do in the winter. Today I have been skiing for over 3 years. Even after I hurt my back skiing 2 years ago, I still went back the next year.…

I was very lucky to have gotten this attribute. What got me this characteristic was that very day when Leslie had told me she was getting surgery. The reason why Leslie was the reason I endured this characteristic was because I had the mindset to take care of Leslie yet, prioritize myself to also finish my homework. Today, I use this mindset of being determined in my everyday life. I used it for many of my extracurricular activities like the National Technical Honor Society, Link Crew, Leadership and Yearbook. Although I use them in my extracurricular activities, I also use determination to complete many school projects, essays and even to the extent, homework. In National Technical Honor Society, I utilize determination when we create projects to help build awareness for others like, donating blood for the blood drive and encouraging recycling to make the earth a better sufficient place. While in Link Crew, I manipulate the power of determination to help exemplify students to be the best they can be and to also have the best school experience as possible. In,Leadership I use determination to set an example for younger students to follow by staying positive, even under stress or frustration. As a matter of fact, I also use determination when the class is under a timed schedule with getting major events done. Above all, Yearbook is the one I intend to succeed in the most. Creating the Yearbook is like creating a story; I am so bound to making the book breathtaking compared to the previous ones. I am constantly adamant to get all my pages done on time, but also making sure they are very creative and well organized and thought out. As a result, in all of these accomplishments I have been known to be successful with the help of being…

Thinking and listening almost go hand in hand. Without being able to listen properly, you won’t know the full details of the lecture, or the criteria that is being taught that day. Patrick Sullivan also states in a short sentence that,” Listening” is also one of the key foundations for a good healthy relationship between friends, or, a significant other. “Grit” is the last topic that Patrick Sullivan covers in this letter. “Grit” is a term that you don’t think fits to anything. But it is simple, “grit” is a term associated with sheer perseverance and dedication. With these kind of attributes, college will seem as if it is easy. Grit has many meanings to me. It means that you can push through when you need to most. Also, it means that you try your hardest all the time. Many people have potential but don't try hard enough to use it. You can be smart, but if you don't try, you won't go anywhere. You can be athletic, but if you don't put forth the effort to become great, you won't. This is why grit is so…
