Personal Narrative: Leslie Mason
Leslie Mason, a fifty nine year old woman who is a strong and wise independent woman.Leslie is more then my neighbor, she is my family. She is a very caring, and trustworthy friend and I would do anything for her. One day, as I was walking to go see how she was doing, she told me that she was going to get hip surgery because she has arthritis and if she does not do something now it will get worse. The doctors told her that she will be getting her hip socket and top of the femur removed and they will be replaced with titanium pieces. Because Leslie has done so much for my family and I, I felt the need to want to help her. After I decided I wanted to help her I talked to my mom, who already knew about the surgery, and told her I want to help …show more content…
I was very lucky to have gotten this attribute. What got me this characteristic was that very day when Leslie had told me she was getting surgery. The reason why Leslie was the reason I endured this characteristic was because I had the mindset to take care of Leslie yet, prioritize myself to also finish my homework. Today, I use this mindset of being determined in my everyday life. I used it for many of my extracurricular activities like the National Technical Honor Society, Link Crew, Leadership and Yearbook. Although I use them in my extracurricular activities, I also use determination to complete many school projects, essays and even to the extent, homework. In National Technical Honor Society, I utilize determination when we create projects to help build awareness for others like, donating blood for the blood drive and encouraging recycling to make the earth a better sufficient place. While in Link Crew, I manipulate the power of determination to help exemplify students to be the best they can be and to also have the best school experience as possible. In,Leadership I use determination to set an example for younger students to follow by staying positive, even under stress or frustration. As a matter of fact, I also use determination when the class is under a timed schedule with getting major events done. Above all, Yearbook is the one I intend to succeed in the most. Creating the Yearbook is like creating a story; I am so bound to making the book breathtaking compared to the previous ones. I am constantly adamant to get all my pages done on time, but also making sure they are very creative and well organized and thought out. As a result, in all of these accomplishments I have been known to be successful with the help of being

My maternal grandmother Shirley Rae Harrington grew up during World War Two. But despite the war, she lived a somewhat normal childhood. When she was young there were very few other children in the area to play with and her younger sister, Sissy, was paralyzed. So she often played by herself in a stream nearby. Her family also owned several horses, chickens, pigs and a billy goat. Surprisingly she didn't get into much trouble as a child, except once when her family was down in our properties Maryland. People were racing speedboats in the creek, so she asked a neighbor who her family knew if she could go. He said yes and took her in his own boat when they got back her parents were fine but Mimi was upset with her. Her first travel experience…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

She was working on her class assignments for college. That was my first example of what determination looked like. I never knew how important that having a determined mind set would be until I failed my first semester of college and joined the US Army.…
