The Immortals
Plot
Before the dawn of man or beast, immortals waged war against each other in Heaven. The victors declared themselves gods while the vanquished were renamed the Titans and imprisoned beneath Mount Tartarus. The Epirus Bow, a weapon of immense power, was lost on Earth during the war. In 1228 B.C., the mortal king Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) of Heraklion searches for the bow, intending to use it to release the Titans to spite the gods for failing to save his family. Hyperion captures the virgin oracle Phaedra (Freida Pinto), believing that she can find the Bow's resting place.
In a small village nearby, the inhabitants prepare to flee to Mount Tartarus to avoid Hyperion's army. One inhabitant, Theseus (Henry Cavill), is a skilled warrior trained by his mentor, the old man (John Hurt). Theseus and his mother Aethra (Anne Day-Jones), considered undesirables because Theseus was born from Aethra being raped, are forced to stay behind by Athenian soldiers including Lysander (Joseph Morgan). Theseus ably battles multiple opponents until the Athenian officer Helios (Peter Stebbings) intervenes and discharges Lysander for his actions. Lysander travels to Hyperion, offering his service and the village's location. Hyperion accepts, but maims Lysander for being a traitor. Hyperion's forces attack Theseus' village, murdering the villagers and Aethra, and taking Theseus captive.
The old man, revealed to be Zeus (Luke Evans), meets with his fellow gods Athena (Isabel Lucas), Poseidon (Kellan Lutz), Ares (Daniel Sharman),Apollo (Corey Sevier), and Heracles (Steve Byers), and warns them not to interfere in mortal affairs as gods, believing that, until the Titans are released, they must have faith in mankind to defeat Hyperion. Theseus is enslaved alongside the thief Stavros (Stephen Dorff). Phaedra, who is held captive nearby, sees a vision of Theseus. Phaedra organizes a riot, using the chaos to escape with Theseus, Stavros, and the other slaves. Theseus decides to pursue

To play the terrifying and intimidating Achilles, Peterson was able get Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt. With casting Pitt, Peterson was able to really emphasis what was found in Achilles during the duration of the epic. Which is why Peterson giving Pitt an additional scene in the movie where it seems as if Achilles has emotions. In the film, Achilles is seen to be grieving the death of a valiant warrior, Hector. Despite that, in The Iliad, Achilles who slaughters Hector, is not seen demonstrating any kind of sensitivity towards the Trojan warrior's demise. The expansion of emotions to Achilles' character again gives the entire drama aspect to the theme of the film. It makes Achilles appear like one of us, rather than the fierce warrior he is really portrayed as in the epic. This gives the modern audience a kind of sensitivity towards Achilles, who has lost his cousin Patrocles and now he has slaughtered the prince of Troy, who like him, cherished his family. Helen was in the end taken by Menelaus, and Menelaus was not executed by Hector. By doing this Petersen gave the film a kind of good guy gets the girl sort feeling, as Paris is appeared to be honest and safe, despite the fact that he brought about the war. In the film he might be seen as a legend sort character, although in the epic, he is seen as an antagonist type of…

Theseus begins his saga with a journey to Athens. He chooses the difficult and dangerous land route, as opposed to the sea route, because he wants the challenge. On his way, he completes six tasks that make him a great hero. He kills robbers and murderers, helping innocent potential victims, delivering justice, and making a name for himself. Once he arrives in Athens, he kills some of the people who plan to attack him. Even though they are not innocent and pose a threat to him, he doesn’t kill about half of them, including his uncle Pallas. This shows his solid reasoning. When Theseus captured the bull of Marathon, he met a normal, old lady, and paid her significant respects in her death. Theseus was seen as a “champion of the oppressed.” For example, he gave Oedipus a place to live after he chose exile.…
