This week Joe and I reviewed the matching between inpatient Prescription COT and Epocrates entries. So far this is looking very promising. Our methodology was to take all COT ordered at all our live hospitals to date, as well as the frequency of the orders (i.e. Number of orders for each COT). and see how the line up to Epocrates. Our findings were that, unweighted, 88.4% of the COT ordered would have a matching monograph which we feel is acceptable, many that did not match were items like vitamins, some OTC drugs and IV carrier fluids. More promising is that weighted based on the frequency of order 99.5% of COT actually ordered to date would have a monograph. Data is here to review.…

The overall goal of the grant proposal is to get funding support for a patient accessible portal which allows diabetic patients to become proactive in their health and wellness to enhance their quality of life. The portal will have various features such as interactions with physicians, ability to record health vitals, monitor health status, follow recommended lifestyle changes to improve quality of life, and alert patients before serious conditions may arise. It is anticipated that the portal will encourage the development of healthier lifestyle attitudes. Diabetes can be an expensive and deadly disease if not monitored correctly, however it is easily manageable with the right resources. Therefore, this proposal is about innovation and technological advancements to help reduce or eliminate diabetic risks. The research duration is one year with an expected sample size of 40 will be collected and samples will be taken at day 0, six months, and 1 year. There are three aims for this research project; first is to ensure continual use of the portal as the norm, improve hemoglobin and glucose levels with the use of the portal, and the reduction of readmission hospitalization rates.…
The scenario that we envision is smart medication – e.g. a medication package augmented with pervasive computing technologies – informs the patient about the effectiveness and side effects of the treatment, sends reminders to take the medication, informs relatives of elderly patients about their adherence to the treatment, detects dangerous combinations between different types of medication and alerts users about recalls or expired medication. We also have analyzed about Pilot study that will help out the doctors to look after the patients who are residing in their home from the hospital. From a technological perspective, we propose that the combination of smart objects and the patient’s mobile phone has a lot of potential in the healthcare domain because the smart objects will benefit from the…

7 The frequency on which the pill transmits should be variable so that two or more pills can be used synchronously in one subject. 8 The characteristics of the diaphragm should not be affected by the body fluids encountered by the capsule. 9 The design should be flexible so that parameters other than pressure can be measured without necessitating major basic modifications of the capsule. The pills described so far have fallen short of these ideal requirements in one or more respects. All circuits use the variation in…
It is universally acknowledged that in present-day society people greatly benefit from disposable products. To start with, it facilitates human lives. For example, an advantage of throw-away products is to save time, especially for those people who are confronted with limited time. This kind of users can extricate themselves from considering cleaning dirty things or worrying about them damaged. Secondly, each contact in a package is the same, if one contact has some problems, the user can dispose it and arrange a new pair, which can spend less time on setting up. What’s more, these disposable products bring cleaner and healthier lifestyle than non-disposable products. According to statistics, a bacterium in 4 hours can be turned into 4096 gruesome. (Hecapedia, 2006) Bacteria propagation speed is amazing; some of diseases can spread throughout saliva. Table wares in restaurant contact with people’s mouths directly. Unclean tableware may cause cross-infection. As a customer, first reaction is to concern about the clean…
Through wireless technology, a patient illness is monitored to effectively control and improve the patient’s health especially those who suffer from chronic diseases and other illnesses that need close monitoring. According to Tarassenko and Clifton (2014) digital plasters which is a disposable device that sticks to a patient's chest allowing the patients’ health to be continuously monitored by providing a patient’s vital signs readings for several days. This will make it easy to adjust medication and care needed by the patient in improving their health and comfort. Also, wireless technology also improves the quality of medicines a patient receives being that they allow for better-tested drugs through better testing equipment. With better-tested drugs and proper monitoring of a patient, the quality of treatment receives will improve. This also allows for a more effective treatment plan to help the patient put some illness under…
This project will help the clinic to speed up the process of patient monitoring and searching patient’s records. This aims to solve the minor problems identified en every process encountered by the personnel-in-charge from monitoring and searching patient’s information. The developers have come up with a solution to make the clinic’s manual system easier. This will serve as a benefit to the doctor and to the patient at the same time. By creating Medical Records System with Mobile Support the doctor will no longer write everything on the patient information form and ledger. The doctor has to type it into the computer and save it. If the doctors wants to view the records of the patient all the doctors need to do is search the patient’s name and the result will be displayed. The doctors can be view also the information the patients using android phones instead of writing on the patient’s information form and searching the file cabinet.…

The Smart Medical Home is the result of work across several disciplines at the University of Rochester, New York. Housed at the Center for Future Health, the home showcases medical technology in a home setting. The Smart Medical Home at first glance looks like a regular apartment with a dining room, living room, bedroom and kitchen. However, upon closer inspection, you can see the adjoining room filled with high-tech computers and gadgets that are meant to help us live a healthier and happier future. The intention behind the University's Smart Medical Home was to change the way people approach their health. This cross-disciplinary effort combines experts in a wide range of disciplines from engineering, computer scientists, social scientists, dermatologists and physicians. Technology utilized in this futuristic home includes infrared sensors, computers, biosensors and video cameras. There is a scanning system behind a mirror that can take three-dimensional images of your skin and check for features such as moles. A gait monitor is being developed to track the way residents walk. This could indicate the development of diseases such as Parkinson's at an early stage, aiding with treatment and prevention. A good demonstration of what this technology can accomplish is "Chester the Pill." Chester is a computer-generated icon that functions as your own personal medical advisor. He can dispense information about medications, side effects and other medical issues. This technology can discuss medical information with residents in real time utilizing advanced artificial intelligence and speech-recognition software. Another technology being developed is a "smart" bandage that can detect the presence of bacteria on your skin. Scientists are now determining if the same technology can be utilized to detect pathogens on food packaging or cutting boards. The bandage looks just like a normal bandage but within a minute or two of being placed on a wound can tell a person if he has one…
UMMC demands for a system that can store their patient’s record. This system contains a search engine that helps the user to find the patient’s previous record.
