How Does Wireless Technology Impacted Our Daily Lives?
How often do you think about how wireless technology has impacted our daily lives? Perhaps one’s response to this question would be, “not often”. Though wireless technology has narrowed the boundaries between cultures, putting friends and family at your fingertips, but most importantly it has brought significant changes to the health care system. Ramey (2013) defined technology as measures put in place to effectively bring about change in our day to day lives to accomplish tasks and build human capacity. This allows patients to better monitor their illness, being that they will be made aware of its level or intensity. According to Shobha, Chittal and Kumar (2007) wireless technology allows for patients vitals and another recording to be done wirelessly to monitor certain illness and improve the quality of test which will, in turn, impact the quality of treatment that the patient receives, making it easier to track the progress of that patient. Furthermore, through wireless technology, a patient can do various tests without having to be connected by wire to machines allowing the patient to feel more comfortable and relaxed resulting in a more accurate reading such as checking the vitals. One such wireless device is the pulse Oximeter that is used to check pulse rate, it allow the patient’s pulse rate to be checked once or twice every minute and upload to reading to the electronic file. This allows the comfort of the patent to be maintained since they will not be wired to a machine and can move about wile being monitored. Gale Encyclopedia (u.d) states that it is important for a patient to feel comfortable in order to get more accurate vital signs readings. According to Tarassenko and Clifton (2014) digital plasters which is a disposable device that sticks to a patient's chest allowing the patients’ health to be continuously monitored by providing a patient’s vital signs readings for several days. This will make it easy to adjust medication and care needed by the patient in improving their health and comfort. Also, wireless technology also improves the quality of medicines a patient receives being that they allow for better-tested drugs through better testing equipment. With better-tested drugs and proper monitoring of a patient, the quality of treatment receives will improve.
