During the time of the 1920’s, America desperately longed for new ways to entertain themselves. The concept of animation was born. Although animation grew in result of many people, Walt Disney was able to take animation, use it to explore new technology and ways to improve animation, encounter new people and places along the way, and ultimately, exchanged new ideas between companies and the rest of the world. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. As a boy, he loved art and decided that it would be a major focus of his when he transferred to Mckinley High School for the art program they offered. For example, in more recent years, the Disney Company has transitioned from the old animation technique that included hand-drawn frames, featured in classic movies such as Cinderella and The Lion King, to new 3D, computer generated pictures, such as those seen in Toy Story and Frozen. This new encounter of animation has created a whole new world when it comes to this art. Now, artists are able to save time because don’t have to be as precise when it comes to drawing characters absolutely perfect every time it is on paper. Having it on the computer is also helpful in allowing animators to experiment more with their characters and see different, more realistic ways in which they can move. In addition to having encounters with technology, new encounters with people are also extremely helpful as well when it comes to animation. Similar to what was said before, something as simple as an exchange of an idea could turn into something that makes millions. Many times the exchange of techniques lead to new ideas that may allow for better, more exciting technology when it comes to animation. For example, once one company begins to use a technique, such as 3D animation, all the companies are going to want to use it. Pretty soon, all sorts of exchanges are made, whether that be secretly between inside sources or publicly for all to hear. One way or another, information always gets from one company to another. Once companies have their hands on the new, most innovative way to make feature films and ideas are exchanged and decided on, great things happen. New movies come out and new technology is shown off.
