The Chicken Shamen: A Short Story
The Chicken Shamen

I was alerted with every movement and sound I was feeling in my surroundings. My heart raced like living was non existent and I was gonna fall to my fate. The telephone made all of my questions into a living disaster as I asked myself who could this mad man be on the other line. As my hand shook to touch the object I slowly lifted I heard nothing just the sound of humming. I could feel someone's existence right outside of this house I knew karma had come back to remind me of what happened that exact night. I knew it couldn’t have been me, I was a victim just like the rest of them. Then the knocks grew louder as they rustled obnoxiously on my whole house. I couldn’t stand the pain no longer. The thoughts of what had happened

The crazy annoying chickens started to burst with sounds and rustled through the coop at four in the morning. So I awaken from my passing out earlier that night and had to just deal with all the noises this morning. At first it was really hard not to just go outside and tape duck tape on to their beaks. So I tried going to the basement, but I could still hear them all the way down there. So I decided to go fix the situation they were having in the coop. When I went there they were, all creating up a storm about nothing. So I left to go back on the couch to sleep once again. I managed to get about a nap, then they went viral once again. This kept happening until seven in the morning and I was exhausted. So I went up into my room and went back to sleep like there was no tomorrow. I eventually, finally awoke to a graceful smell that appeared to be knocking on my door. So I smiled with happiness and felt like I was floating all the way down to the kitchen and there lay an awesome meal of eggs and pancakes just for me. After I delightfully consumed an awesome meal I began to take the cookies we had leftover from last night down to Kawaii-Chan’s house. As I gracefully skipped toward them, I began to stop. I gasped in still motion to something I wouldn’t forget. The blossomed trees were gone and they left behind the old cut up stumps. The branches were spilled everywhere with no more flowers not even buds. The bareness was no good attraction to the land, especially what lay in the middle of all the disgrace. There was a dead chicken that looked exactly like one of mine with a knife in the throat there laid a note. The note reads beware like this was some sort of note you may find on Halloween. So I began to sprint to Kawaii-Chan’s house with the pressure of breathing began to quickly erupt harder than ever before. Without even bothering to knock I put down the cookies and I looked up at all their faces then I seen the sorrow look in their

I have to say this a very disturbing article as Lloyd Olsen was very insensitive and cruel to the poor chicken. I believe this statement is very cruel “When Olsen found Mike the next morning, sleeping with his "head" under his wing, he decided that if Mike had that much will to live, he would figure out a way to feed and water him” (City of Fuita, 2015). Although I disagree with what he did to the chicken I have to say it is fascinating that Mike the headless chicken was able to survive for 18 months without his head. The reason I believe Mike the headless chicken was able to live was because as Olsen hit him with the blade he missed the chicken’s jugular vein which is one of the large veins in the neck that supplies blood from the head to…

Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…

My chickens that I cooked were ready. Then I heard a strange sound. "B-roop", Unfortunately it was my stomach that growled. I was so hungry. I took the chicken out and starting eating like a Tyrannosaurus. The taste and the smell that came from the chicken was incredible. My stone like teeth and my thin layer of tongue chewed on that piece of chicken. You could hear the sounds of chewing like Crag! It was night when I was done eating. " Its night if I don't sleep, then zombies are gonna come in and kill me",I said to myself. I went to bed as soon as I can because I didn't want any zombies to crawl into my property. A bright light shined in my eyes. A light that made me wake up and rub my eyes. "Finally The dream is over", I said to myself. But it wasn't. I was still in the same world, same house, and same spot. I went outside. "Zombies", I screamed. I was so scared that I went in my house opened my chest and took my sword out. A Zombie came in my house and started to tear my house apart. My hand was shaking. Shaking because I never experienced this much fear in my life. I closed my eyes got out of bed and stabbed the Zombie. I saw his green blood coming out of his body, and his eyes staring at me.…

No matter how hard I try, they always come crawling back into my dreams, or should I say nightmares, the phenomenons, they’re ratchet, they’re horrible. They seem start with heat, light, and sound, sounds of crying, no, screaming. I stand there, as little as I was, crying, yelling out for my mum. I remember hearing her faintly yelling out for me, “Alistair! I’m here! I’m here!”. Piece by piece, I slowly remember, “I can’t find you mummy! I’m scared!”. As soon as I saw her, I saw the glimpse of a subtle smile. She started to run, she started to. Before she knew it, before I knew it, a bloody brute of a demon or simply man had bludgeoned her to death. As the cherry-red blood blossomed in the midst of me, I suddenly wake up with beads of sweat…

My body shoots up suddenly and vomit arises from throat. My head is pounding. It feels like it’s banging against the window of a moving bus. It’s an earthquake. I rush to the bathroom, chunks spewing out of my mouth as I run. I hear a creak. My mind registers another presence in the room. I am afraid. I slowly turn my head cautiously, my face frozen is fear, eyes widening as I take in the figure before me. "Beth" I whisper…

There’s an overwhelming sense of fear. It is as if there were eyes watching me. I begin to get out of the bed. I’m going to open the closet but I don’t want to. I know something bad is going to happen. But I open the door and there’s nothing, but it’s too dark to actually see anything. I lean further into the closet. It’s colder in the closet than in the room. I feel a hand pull my hand off the knob and drag me further in. I fall and I keep falling. I don’t stop falling till I wake up, and it gets colder as I fall. I feel my blood freeze in my veins. It's like the dream’s…

It is 11 o’clock at night, on the 30th of July 2005. A man is in his home with all his doors locked, a precaution taken against a serial killer in the area. Suddenly, he hears an unexpected noise that sounds like a car in his driveway. He stands up and goes to explore what the sound could be. He walks down the hallway and enters his living room. Darkness engulfs him as all of the lights suddenly go out. Standing very still, he hears noises coming from another part of his house, and then footsteps and a strange, maniacal sort of laughter coming closer and closer. He turns himself around desperately, but he can't seem to place exactly where the sound is coming from. Then it’s too late. A phone flashes in front of his face, and he feels the cold…

Reaching the front doors, I shoved them open, unaware that my young-self wasn’t ready to behold the sight of two indistinguishable figures, lying on the lawn, blood pooled around them. I was brought back to reality by the sound of sirens blaring in the distance. As the hoard of police cars rounded the corner, I became more anxious by the minute. My palms were breaking out in cold sweat, and breathing became uneven, to the point where I felt as if I was having a seizure.…

“Well come inside,” I said as I opened the front door. They all hurried in as quickly as possible to the warmth of my house. They all sat down thanking me for my kind deed. I told them, “Dinner will be ready to eat at ten.” It was 9:24 p.m. at the time. I went into the kitchen to get the chicken breasts ready to be eaten. As I was making the food, I heard a loud noise in the other room. I quickly ran into the other room to see what has happened. In the other room, one of the kids had knocked over one of my decorative vases. I asked, “What happened?” I watched as both of the kids stood and pointed towards each other. The father came in and looked at the damage. “I am so sorry,” he said, “I don’t know what has gotten into them.”The father helped me pick up the pieces and throw them away. After that, I walked back into the kitchen to finish the chicken. It was now 9:55 and I called for them…

The old man was shrieking. I was blocking his mouth with a pillow until he stopped breathing. But then I started to panic, because I realized only at that moment that I killed a man. He will never see the Sun again. He will never see the moon, humans, lights, streets, houses, etc. he will never see the earth again. I couldn’t believe I did such a thing. I was terrified. But then I suddenly heard a police alarm. I was very scared. But what could they do to me if they didn’t find the corpse? So I quickly hid it under the floor. But at that moment, the police appeared. They asked me what I was doing in the neighbor’s apartment. But I could not deny anything. There was blood everywhere because I had dismembered the corps. So I began to run. As quickly as I can in the night. The moon was bright like the sun. The clouds that partially recovered it were black as a coal piece. I was running. As fast as I could. Behind me were the policemen. They were screaming things I could not understand. But as I grew tired, I slowed down. The men would be on me in less than ten seconds. I had to do something, and quick. That is when I saw a bridge that was highering to let a boat pass. It was my last chance. I had to make it. So I began running again. The men were getting closer. Far away a wolf was howling. The bridge was getting higher. I had to jump. So when I was only one meter away of the jumping point, I jumped. High in the sky. But the other end was too far away. But I managed to grip myself to the other end that was on the other side. Yet I didn’t have the force to climb up the bridge. So I let go, thinking about the water that would stop me from hurting myself. But I was wrong. As I was thirty meters high, the impact was as hard as on steel. All my life flashed before my eyes. The last thing I thought about was the old man and his vulture eye. I think is deserve what’s happening to me right now. The wolves were howling so loud that I thought I was crazy.…
