The Causes Of World War I
World War I (WWI) was a hard fought, crude war that lasted just over four years. Nationalism, a group’s desire to form their own country, militarism, a group’s opinion of military use to gain power over another, and imperialism, a gaining of power due to conquering other countries, all played a big role in the beginning of WWI. However, this was not actually the cause of the war. The famous start of WWI was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Here are some other factors and key points that have a play on WWI.
Franz Ferdinand of Austria was the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. His assassination was and still is known as the leading cause of WWI, aka The Great War. There were also three crises between 1900 and 1919 that had something to do with this war. These crises between the Great Powers brought attention to differences between them and rejuvenated hostility between the powers.
The crises included the Moroccan crisis which involved Kaiser Wilhelm II denouncing French influence while visiting the part of Tangier in Morocco.
