The Answer Is No
In The Answer Is No, the narrative describes the story of a school teacher who went through a difficult time dealing with her personal and psychological conflict. In her painful memory of childhood, she was violated by her tutor (schoolmaster) who came over her house to give her private lessons. It happened when her parents were not home and she was not aware of his shameful action. Furthermore, he was trying to cover his serious sin by convincing her that everything was normal and that he loved her. He promised to propose her whenever she got to her legal age. Time passed by, she grew up and realized his evil intention and felt hurt and violated. She refused his proposal when he came back to fulfill his promise. She rejected his evilness and wanted to stay away from him. The story presents an unbelievable life event in the childhood of an innocent girl who was a target of an unexpected crime. Yet, it created an outrageous feeling to the readers against the unethical action in the past of the schoolmaster.
The story was a tragedy which reflects the sadness and unexpected truth. It occurs to me that the poor girl must have suffered tremendously from the disgraceful violation by her tutor. The story somehow created anger inside me because it reveals an undesirable crime which our society does not allow. Indeed, the action of the tutor was a great sin which totally against my belief. Furthermore, I would consider the tutor's crime as an evil act against our social morality. In fact, the story creates fear in me because there might be more of those violations in our society that we do not know. In my opinion, the tutor's immoral action was so dangerous and harmful to the young generation. We need to be aware of any bad intention to violate young children in our community and our society. Lastly, the story reminds me that we need to prepare and educate children to be aware of the criminal violation that might affect them physically, and psychologically. I

The documentary “Me facing Life; Cyntoia’s Story” is about a young girl named Cyntoia, who is sixteen years old, going through a trail after committing murder; her life and what may have led her to committing so many delinquent acts is also expressed. Throughout the film her family, lifestyle and way of thinking is shown deeply. Still, after seeing the film I feel as if her pathway to delinquency could have been avoidable by just having more supervision, having a better family structure, and even being more active in school. Cyntoia had hit the streets at thirteen, she was a chronic runaway. “I wasn’t running from; I was running to,” she explains now. The streets of Nashville gave her “what I thought was freedom.”…

This week’s article addresses the uses of harsh Mandatory sentencing on the vulnerable juvenile population. In 2004, 16-year-old Cyntoia Brown was arrested for the murder of a middle-age man. Brown murdered the individual after being solicited for sexual activities. The courts viewed the case as an easy conviction. However, there was more to Cyntoia than her ill-thought actions. Cyntoia came from a background riddled with sexual violence. For instance, her grandmother was a victim of a violent rape which resulted in the birth of Cyntoia’s mother. At a young age, Cyntoia’s mother became a victim of prostitution, drugs, and alcohol use. Additionally, she became pregnant with Cyntoia at 16 years old. After Cyntoia ran away from home, she became…

I have chosen this topic because it holds the future of our children and the future of our country within its laws and courtrooms. By treating our children as adults for crimes they commit, are we holding them accountable or are we creating “super-predator” out of our troubled youth? Not only are we creating our future criminals but we are arming them with experience and an education that far exceeds that of a classroom or book. The end result will be a future of violence that will only escalate and end with more deaths, heinous crimes, and an increase in mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction and eventually the deterioration of our society. Parents, policy makers, mental health professionals and the judicial system should work together as team to battle this crucial issue.…

There are many juveniles who enter the legal system and just get recycled, or never make it out. Some enter the system and actually make a turn around and are either successful in work or school, or they are a boon to spreading awareness to other juveniles about how they don’t want to end up being circulated through the juvenile justice system. Despite the problems being made to help juvenile stay on the straight and narrow there have been improvements on the juvenile justice system in the United States. Although other countries may not use our ways of dealing with juveniles, by using troubled teens help other troubled teens get on the right track we have drastically changed how our juvenile system.…

Of the five articles in the Juvenile Justice module, only one stands out as the most effective in defending the stance that children should be tried as adults. The most effective article was “On Punishment and Teen Killers,” written by Jennifer Jenkins. This article definitely proves that children should be tried as adults by explaining how influence can have an effect on crime rate, and how underdevelopment of brains cannot be a contributing factor to the reasoning behind teen murders.…

The amount of crime that is committed by juveniles in our country is astonishing. This crime is on the rise in many cities across our nation because we see news reports often concerning juveniles. The reasons behind this crime may be sociocultural or even biological. Moreover, under the situation the book set up, a ten years old naïve boy, Chamdi, has to face the brutal and endless violence all alone. It is not good to know the darkness of the world for Grade 12 students because we are the rising sun, and we need to see the brave future. On the other hand, the hope is limited by the darkness in the story. For instances, in chapter 11, “Chamdi lied to Anand Bhai, ‘You lied to me’, says Anand Bhai, ‘So hold your tongue out and slice it off.’” When I read this part, I am shocked by the bloody words coming out of Anand Bhai’s mouth. It is still…
