They go from person to person healing them, then all of a sudden, a child runs out. The medic urges the child to get back to safety, he runs away leaving only two things 1. a curious medic 2. a grenade that will explode in 3...2...1. The medic now needs a medic. Have you ever been taken advantage of by someone who wants to use you to their advantage instead of consulting you first or getting your permission? Children who have been forced to be soldiers can answer yes to both of these questions. The real question should be if child soldiers should be given amnesty for their past actions, or be prosecuted because of them? When it comes to the topic of child soldiers, most people agree that it is immoral and wrong. Where this agreement ends however is on the question of whether child soldiers should be prosecuted, or granted amnesty.Whereas some believe that soldiers are criminals and should be punished, others maintain that child soldiers have been forced to carry out immoral acts and should be granted amnesty by the United Nations. I feel that child soldiers should be forgiven and granted amnesty because they were forced, because they are children, and because they are also victims.…

In addition to the violence that child soldiers must inflict on others, they are subject to abuse as well, with many being sexually abused and beaten by their own commanders or other soldiers. Every aspect of the use of child soldiers is unjust, from the way they are recruited, to the acts of violence they must commit once they are soldiers, to the way many of them die because of their participation in war. Therefore, this is a social justice issue that must be given a great deal of attention (Child Soldiers International 1).…

In many countries in Africa and across the world, young children are being forced into rebel and corrupt government militaries. According to New York Times and the United Nations, “The Somali government is using hundreds of children, some as young as 9, on the front lines.”(Gettleman 6). For most young children, their brains are still developing, and the constant warfare and vicious imagery can be very damaging to a brain. Child soldiers are killed if they do not do what is asked, and are brainwashed into doing things. For example, if a child soldiers defies orders or does not do what they are told, they would often be killed on the spot according to invisible children. This shows that child soldiers should not be prosecuted for their war crimes because they should not be responsible for doing what they are told to save their own life. In that situation, the choice is clear. They are just doing what they are told to prevent from being shot or stabbed resulting in death. Also, another way they are forced into committing these crimes is with the use of brainwashing. As said before, child soldiers are often fed drugs and alcohol to brainwash them into thinking what their commanders want them to think. This clouds their judgment and forces them to do what they are told because in that state of mind, they do not do what they want to do and do not make their own decisions. They are forced to believe that what they are told to do is right. It is the same thing as drunk driving. One might know it is not a good idea, but, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they believe it is the right thing to do. If they are forced into committing crimes, even though they might not want to, why should they be put behind bars for the misdeeds of their commanders? In conclusion, child soldiers often have nothing to do with their actions and are forced into doing what they are told. Either because they are killed if they do act as wanted, or if they are brainwashed into believing that they want to do these things. For these reasons, child soldiers should be given…
