The American Dream is different for every person. People of different races and ethnic backgrounds have different ideas of the American Dream. People of different areas of the world have different perspectives of the dream. People from a third world country would have a different dream than someone from a major country like America or like a person from a rural setting would have a different idea than someone from the city. As someone who lives in the suburbs of Chicago, has a good family, and a decent about of money to live with, the American Dream is to have a healthy family, good job, nice house, nice car, and a decent paycheck. Some may think money is everything and need to have a lot of it. They may think this because they see other wealthier families with more and would like to have that too. Some people think having all the material things in the world will make you happy. To the people that think money is everything, one may want to revise their priorities. One only lives once so make family time the best time and do not worry about money all the time. Money should not play a big role in the idea of the American dream. Money sometimes takes over a person and leaves no time for their family and friends. Once a person makes some money they may become "addicted" to having it and leave no time for themselves. I believe that there is always time to make money but not so much time to spend with the people you love. Family will always have an idea of who you are you do not want to be the person who is revolved around work and never has time for anyone. From experiences, some may say not having a father figure or mother figure in their lives as they grew up has n influence on how they want to live their lives. Having parents who value money more than time may influence a person's perspective on how they think of the American Dream. Some people think this because they see their parents as authority figures and whatever they value must be
