American Dream Essay The American dream means being free and being able to fulfill your dreams. Like getting a quality education, getting a good quality job that makes you happy, homeownership, starting a family, being able to provide for your family and having the ability to live a life you have always wanted. Families from other countries come here to do just that. The countries that the people may live in may not have those opportunities available to them, so they come to the United States to have a better life. America provides you with so many opportunities. But sometimes justice system gets in the way that.

It seems to be fading away in the justice system of the United States. This is making people lose their belief in achieving their American dream.This happens when there is racial discrimination involved. The liberal America website talks how 1out of 4 young black male more likely to be incarcerated than going to college and getting married. But sometimes the young black male might started a family, but they aren’t married. So the responsibility is left to the single mother to take care of the child, so the single mother ends up having to work a low wage job. There isn’t really an American Dream. Another source that talks about this is the book “Fences”. The main character, Troy was black and his race held him from getting a higher position at his job. The white people were able to get the better jobs This threatens Troy's American Dream because he would have had the house of his dreams but his job didn’t provide him with a good position to make the money he needed. So he couldn’t get the house of his dreams, he had to get money from his brother to pay for
