“What better way to begin you morning than with a practice of gratitude” (Scott & Davenport, 2017, p. 39)? When I have to get out of bed to go to work, it has become a mindless task. Being mindful of my surroundings, having a roof over my head, a soft warm bed to wake up in every day, gives me good reason to be grateful every day. I have begun to set my alarm clock ten minutes earlier in order for me to slow down and be grateful for the beginning of my day. I take time to mediate for 3-4 minutes listening to the sound of the ocean, and then I take deep breaths and relax my muscles from the top of my head, to my feet. Unfortunately, I cannot get it done every day, but I am working on getting into the habit of doing this as a mindfulness activity before I leave the house. It has helped a great deal with my stress in the morning. I have noticed that I am not as grumpy when I walk into work. I believe by reducing my stress, it has helped me with my mental and physical health as…

First, I will lay out a comfortable pair of pants and a tee-shirt the night before with a clean pair of socks and my tennis shoes. That way when I get up in the morning I am not wasting time looking for my clothes and shoes. I would recommend getting up 45 minutes earlier than usual. I set my alarm to wake me up. I get up quietly and get ready; I leave my husband with the kids and head outside. I start my walk by taking deep breaths and make sure to wear my watch so I am not late going back to my house. I start walking slow for a couple minutes to warm up and then start to walk briskly. On my way back home I start to slow down for the last five minutes to cool down. I carry a water bottle to take some sips of water periodically. I say to myself, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! And Amy you have all the tools needed to succeed and you are capable of increasing your health for your sake and the sake of your family. If you goof up for a day just get back on track the next day. I hope to start to see and feel benefits pretty fast. I have noticed that my clothes have started to fit better. I have been sleeping better at night as well. I am calmer and more relaxed during the day too. When I return from my walk I try to place my tennis shoes in the same spot so I can find them at night. I then get ready for my day and remember later when I get home I will be able to get ready again for my evening walk. When home from work I get supper ready for my family. Help with homework for an hour then I get ready for my walk, my kids have also like to walk at night with me which is helping improve their health as well. I put a calendar on my refrigerator and each day I walk I cross of the day as a reminder that I did well exercising that day. It helps motivate me to continue. I put small reminders on my phone to say “have a great walk…

The process I was trying to improve was getting out of bed, and getting prepared for work. The morning time is the worse time, I always feel as if I have too many duties to take care of in the morning. The process had several steps when I first started. The first step was hitting the snooze button, (2) getting out of the bed, (3) using the restroom, (4) brushing teeth, (5) washing face, (6) combing hair, (7) ironing clothes, (8) put clothes on, (9) put make up on, (10) put jewelry and badge on, (11) warm up car, (12) drive to work.…

Funny morning quotes also have their benefits. Chuck Jones had a good one when he said "I dream of being Bugs Bunny, but when I wake up, I'm Daffy Duck or Wile E. Coyote." I'm sure that he is not the only person to ever feel this way. To recall this quote during the day can help to keep a sense of humor during a difficult day and also to try to be more like Bugs Bunny during a hard day rather than the defeated, Daffy Duck or Wile U. Coyote figures that are always defeated by their opponents. Starting your day off laughter is like waking up on the right side of the bed!…

Do you ever wake up and the sun is not shining and you're laying in a dark room not wanting to move. The silence of the morning is peaceful and you getting up would be disrupting such a serene moment. You're up and the sky is dark and gloomy, much like this bay area weather today. It is not the normal motivating weather with the bright blue sky and warmth from the morning sunrise. How do you get up for practice before the first rooster crows? How do you get to the gym before the first ray of shine hits the horizon? What do you do when you're lazy and don't want to move? Sometimes a good start to your morning will make you forget that it's grey outside. Are you asking yourself, what can I do to make it a better day? My answer is, get moving.…

Our physical health can be greatly increased just by walking, using the stairs instead of the elevator, using the push mower instead of the riding mower, etc.” Medical studies have proven that the person who exercises daily lessen his or her chance of sustaining injuries such as pulled muscles, twisted ankles and even broken bones.” (2) Regular exercise strengthens our muscle and skeletal structures while also increasing our chances to perform better in different activities in life. People who maintain a consistent exercise program will be a more reliable employee to their company as they will not be out sick as much as the one who does not work-out regularly.
