Exercising Daily

I am going to show you how I am going to begin exercising daily in order to help prevent obesity by using the Health Belief Model. I believe that if I continue to eat the way I do on a regular basis and don’t engage in any physical activity it will lead to a chronic illness or an early death. I will show you how I plan to start and succeed in changing my inactive lifestyle to an active lifestyle.

First, I will lay out a comfortable pair of pants and a tee-shirt the night before with a clean pair of socks and my tennis shoes. That way when I get up in the morning I am not wasting time looking for my clothes and shoes. I would recommend getting up 45 minutes earlier than usual. I set my alarm to wake me up. I get up quietly and get ready; I leave my husband with the kids and head outside. I start my walk by taking deep breaths and make sure to wear my watch so I am not late going back to my house. I start walking slow for a couple minutes to warm up and then start to walk briskly. On my way back home I start to slow down for the last five minutes to cool down. I carry a water bottle to take some sips of water periodically. I say to myself, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! And Amy you have all the tools needed to succeed and you are capable of increasing your health for your sake and the sake of your family. If you goof up for a day just get back on track the next day. I hope to start to see and feel benefits pretty fast. I have noticed that my clothes have started to fit better. I have been sleeping better at night as well. I am calmer and more relaxed during the day too. When I return from my walk I try to place my tennis shoes in the same spot so I can find them at night. I then get ready for my day and remember later when I get home I will be able to get ready again for my evening walk. When home from work I get supper ready for my family. Help with homework for an hour then I get ready for my walk, my kids have also like to walk at night with me which is helping improve their health as well. I put a calendar on my refrigerator and each day I walk I cross of the day as a reminder that I did well exercising that day. It helps motivate me to continue. I put small reminders on my phone to say “have a great walk

The book also outlines steps that can be taken to slowly improve exercise behaviors for those of any activity level, based on the exercise research performed by the authors. This book was chosen for review after reading a brief description of it. I figured I would gain more personally. After reading others opinion of the book, including those of celebrities, on how this book changed their exercise habits I was sold. People always come up with excuses to get out of exercising, such as believing it will not hurt too much to miss one day or that they do not have time to exercise. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's medical correspondent wrote, “More than 60 percent of American adults do not exercise regularly, and many are content to admit they do not exercise at all” (Gupta, par. 1).
