Technology--The Villain In a world consumed with constant advancements in technology, the human race tends to be blinded by the cover of the future without considering the hindering effects of technology. 40 years ago, technological advancements were far less of an occurrence and the social aspects of life flourished without the distraction of devices. In current society, conflicts arise at every corner with new advancements and how they may distort the natural way of living. Technology is developing into a destructive system by pushing moral boundaries, consuming social interaction, and creating a living dependance throughout the human race.

Social skills are fundamental in mental growth: recently, technology has hindered social interactions. Journalist Maria Schindlecker describes this in her articles on social networking just how destructive the social age has become. Schindlecker writes “The old days where friends would meet and chat aimlessly without distraction was long gone…what’s happening on Facebook and the like rule our world” (Schindlecker 1). Priorities with technology turn from friends and family to Facebook and Twitter. Rather than developing relationships and social skills, society waists hours upon hours glued to a screen. Equally important, CNBC’s consumer electronics writer Chris Morris writes about a study of social interactions with the presence of electronics. Chris informed that “Observing 100 friendly couples having a 10-minute conversation while their phone was present, researchers noticed that the individuals still continued to fiddle with their phones. When those same couples conversed without a phone present, their conversations resulted in greater empathy” (Morris 2).
