Teachers Day Games
Musical chairs.

Mimicry of teachers: students who imitate teachers whether as harmless fun or to be just like them. While imitating teachers, they try to enact their way of communication, facial expressions teacher, etc. Imitating teachers can form a funny part of your celebrations as well, where teachers also enjoy watching their 'replicas' on stage.

Truth or Lie

Pass out a sheet of paper for each teacher. Have the teachers write two things that are true about themselves and one untrue. Then let the other teachers try to guess what was untrue.

Toilet Paper Game

This is a classic game so be prepared that some teachers may know the game. Pass a roll of toilet paper around and ask each teacher to tear off as much as she might need throughout the day. Then when they least expect it, ask each teacher to tell one thing about themselves for each sheet of toilet paper.

Commonalities
Create a survey of five basic questions such as Birth place, favorite food, favorite vacation spot, siblings and color. Then allow the teachers throughout the day to find as many teachers as possible who have the same favorites as they do. Make sure they have names by each question of people who do have the same likes. At the end, have them count how many people they found with the same likes. The person with the largest total gets the prize. You will be surprised at how fast people can bond when they know commonalities to discuss with one another.

Push the nerves aside and enjoy these games. It is important to be friends by the time the kids arrive in order to model friendships to the kids. Enjoy these years together. You will be surprised at how fast you will make life long friends. I am sure some veteran teachers out there have some great games as well. Feel free to leave them in the comments so others can benefit as well.

Write for Your Teacher
Write poems, letters, or notes of appreciation and leave them in teachers' mailboxes. Read them at morning assembly or

This has been done many times and has come up with good results. Students no matter how ridiculous the assignment given to them by their instructor will do it anyway. The game will take no longer than 10 minutes and involves no more than a pen and paper of the students. It is best to do the game after the students have had a few classes, so that rapport with students and credibility with a teacher has time to develop (Winston 2). At the beginning of class the instructor will give the instructions for the assignment and the supplies the students need to get out for it. After the assignment the instructor will talk to the class about the assignment and what they thought about it. The instructor then asks the class if they wanted to do the assignment and all of they shouted out no. The only reason they did it was because a teacher made the request and so they obeyed it. After all of this the students understand the notion of power and that they will obey the request of those who control their grades. Do all students do what their teacher asks no matter how outrageous the assignment may…

Implementation: This game will be available for the children during free play time. It will be sitting in the black tub, on the shelf and available for the children to play with. The children can take it off the shelf and play with it on the table. This can be a multiple player game. Shuffle the deck. One player will deal the cards one at a time until all cards are dealt. Each player will look at their hand. Discard all matching pairs of cards face up in front of you. The player to the left of the dealer then offers their hand to the player on their left. This player takes one card from the offered hand and lays down any pair of matching cards that may be found. Play continues with this player offering cards that may be formed. One player will be left in the end with the old maid card who does not have a match. The teacher will be available to help the children match the cards, helping take turns, and asking questions like: * “How many cards do you have left?” * “I wonder who is going to end the game with the old maid?”…

The icebreaker that I thought worked very well was the inside outside circle where the whole class made two circles one on the outside and one on the inside and we had to rotate and get to know someone new each time by answering different questions asked by one of the tutors. I thought this game worked very well because the questions that were asked were very interesting and it got many students to get into conversations and not get boring because they were open ended questions.…

Mrs. Corcoran suggested an interesting idea, which will impress you, Dr. Liace, of doing a co-taught lesson with another classroom. The lesson is surveying how many students prefer one of the following ice cream flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookie dough, and other. The lesson involves students surveying and socializing with other students, creating graphs, bar graphs, and create Microsoft application visual aids to discover the results of how many students prefer each of the following flavors.…

Games- Games are a great way to get students interested in any subject. The purpose of games is to appeal to children’s sense of fun and using math in a game will get the students to be interested in math. Games can range from fun whole class involvement to using technology and playing mathematics games on the computer. To apply this strategy I would set up games for the whole class to participate in. Games could be using addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc. strategies to solve problems. If computers are available, I would also find an appropriate game for each individual student to play and practice their math skills.…

Plan the activities, commencing with a starter for the whole class to familiarise with the topic and finding what they already know about it. Then following with an introduction of the subject and and activity for the whole class, then asking questions and develop the topic, maybe in small groups, for a longer period of time. Give them an activity related to the topic and provide aids and materials to help them to perform the activity successfully. Then give time for the students to do the activity, always checking their progress and solving their questions. Ask the students to choose a member of the group to share their results.…
