Teachers Day
Ratna:
A timeless Indian edict goes “Mata Pita Guru Deva” which translated stands for “Mother Father Teacher God” – a sacred list of the most revered relationships in a strict order. The meaning of this adage is the greatest truth, and is the order in which one should offer reverence. The phrase is a basic tenet in existence from the time of the Vedas and beyond.
Snehal:
First comes the mother (Mata) who gives birth to the child, thereby bringing us as a child into this world. Next comes the father (Pita), because it is the mother who knows the truth about the father and she points us to the father. The mother and father then take us to the teacher (Guru), and it is the guru, through his or her teachings, points us to God (Devam). Here God represents the consciousness or self-awareness or our real self. A Teacher thus stands at a higher pedestal than the almighty omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and omnifarious.
Ratna:
Most of our earliest memories of school days will definitely feature an ever-smiling, ever-helpful teacher who assumed the role of a parent at school. While in many relations, we tend to pay back, with gratitude, the service or help rendered to us, a Teacher-Student relationship mostly ends up as a one-way lane where the teacher is always the giver and seldom the receiver.
Snehal:
So, here we r today to celebrate the magic, the “teacher” by expressing r deepest sense of gratitude and respect... In our little way to wish to thank u all and salute ur immeasurable efforts and hard work… I, Snehal and my friend Ratna, on the behalf of r entire class and r seniors welcome u all here… Ur presence and valueable time really means a lot to us… Welcome and hope u have a memorable Teachers Day…

Nikos Kazantzakis has rightly said- “Ideal teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own”. N its owing to those great teachers u n I stand here today…
Here we present a small presentation as a token of r appreciation towards u all teachers…
4) Ratna (Harshit)
Someone once said, “Most of us end up with no more than five or six people who remember us. Teachers have thousands of people who remember them for the rest of their lives.” It is so very true… I now invite Harshit to come forward and convey all r special feelings to r dear teachers…
5) Snehal (Video)
Rightly said Harshit.. This reminds me of a little story I read back at school…
What Do Teachers Make?
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Susan. Be honest. What do you make?" Susan, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied,
You want to know what I make? I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor. I make kids sit through 40 minutes of study hall in absolute silence.
You want to know what I make? I make kids wonder. I make them question I make them criticize. I make them apologize and mean it. I make them write and read... I make them show all their work in math and perfect their final drafts in English.
I make them understand that if you have the brains, and follow your heart, and if someone ever tries to judge you by what you make, must pay no attention because they just didn't learn.
Susan paused and then continued.
"You want to know what I make? I MAKE U...I MAKE A DIFFERENCE...
Here we now present a small video to reach out r hearts to one n all…
6) Ratna: (Leela Rani Mam speech)
I often wonder about teachers who educated famous people such as Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, and the like. Were these teachers specially qualified to inspire their students to achieve fame and success? Or were these teachers just plain lucky to have exceptionally talented students? Do some teachers have the rare quality of turning dust into gold? The answer may not be easy to find…
I would now request r respected Leela Rani Mam to please come forward and share few words of advice with us...
7) Snehal (Shruti)

Someone once said, "Teachers don't impact for a year, but for a lifetime." A teacher can make a lasting impression on your mind. This influence persists beyond school, college and university, and becomes the beacon of light, guiding us through the journey of life. Good teachers play the role of a parent, providing encouragement, inspiration, and invaluable guidance….
We now bid a good-bye to this memorable evening and hope to create many such during r stay at BITS. We once again thank you all for being a part of this event and thereby appreciating r efforts… Thank You…

    Three Paths in Hinduism

There are three paths in Hinduism - the path of knowledge, the path of devotion and the path of action. The topic to be discussed in this paper is the path of devotion, or 'bhakti' in Sanskrit. Devotion is defined as, "love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause" (Google Definitions). In the case of any religion, specifically Hinduism, this devotion is towards a God or number of gods and realizing that they are not just there to be worshipped but will also protect you and help you when you need them, creating a more personal relationship. I chose this topic because I think it is important, regardless of what religion you are, to have an utmost devotion toward whatever God or deity you are worshipping. God is the center of most religions, and without a devotion and love towards God we cannot bear the fruits of the religion, which are the qualities which that God possesses. Bhakti is a predominate theme seen in Hinduism (mostly after the Vedic times) especially in the Epics (Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, etc.). We will discuss the path of devotion and how it is defined, practiced and brought out in Hinduism.…

Hindus attach paramount importance to spiritual gurus. The Sanskrit root "Gu" means darkness or ignorance. "Ru" denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes darkness of our ignorance is a Guru. Guru meaning enlightener or the guide from darkness into light. Gurus are often equated with God and always regarded as a link between the individual and the Immortal. Just as the moon shines by reflecting the light of the sun, and glorifies it, all disciples can dazzle like the moon by gaining from their Gurus. What is Guru Purnima?…

    Hindu Religion

The Hindu religion like other religions also believes in the battle between the good and the evil although at a lower level of existence. The religion preaches that man must advance himself through successive levels of knowledge in his quest for the final truth. Hence, the concept of the Devas, or the good deities and the Asuras, the demoniac characters are very important in the Hindu traditions. Many folklores revolve around the battles between the Devas and the Asuras. The important Godheads in the Hindu tradition are Brahma, Vishnu and Siva who correspond with the three 'Gunas' or qualities of Satva (pureness), Rajas(action), and Tamas(darkness and inactivity). Man is a mixture of the three gunas and the inherent nature of a person will depend on the predominance of the three gunas in him.…

Next describing some of the amazing and endearing qualities of that God, who as stated above is residing in each and every heart, Guru Ji says: “(O’ my friends), in the township of the body lives the King, who has a youthful body and like a child stages uniquely amazing plays. He is neither male, nor female, nor bird, but that eternal (God) is embodiment of wisdom. Whatever pleases Him, (that) happens; (therefore I say: “O’ God You are the provider of both wisdom and sweet temper to Your creatures, as if) You are the lamp, and You are the fragrance.”(7)…

The Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara are within us. That is why I often say you are not one, but three. This is the meaning of the three words Bhur, Bhuvah, Svaha in the Gayatri Mantra. Bhur means Bhu-loka (earth). The earth is made up of matter. Therefore human body, which is also made up of matter, is called Bhu-loka. This can be referred to as materilization. Bhuvah means life force (Prana). It is this life force that makes the body move. This is vibration. Svaha means wisdom. This is radiation. The Vedas declare, 'Prajnanam Brahma'. This Prajnana is nothing but radiation. Human being is a combination of materialization, vibration and radiation. You do not need to search God outside. Turn your vision inward, there you find God." Occasionally such an individual is born who, by following his tradition correctly and completely, approaches perfection and becomes a symbol to the world. Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami was such a man, a living example of awakening and wisdom, a leader recognized worldwide as one of Hinduism 's foremost ministers. Gurudeva Suvaya Subramuniyaswami was the foremost exponent and teacher of Saiva Siddhanta in the West, a self-realized Western spiritual master of an age-old Saivite tradition. The name Subramuniya is from Sanskrit and is formed from subhra meaning, light; intuition, and muni, silent sage. Ya means restraint; religious meditation. Thus Subramuniya means a self-restrained soul who remains silent, or when he speaks, speaks out from intuition. Saiva Siddhanta, the name of the Gurudeva 's Church is from the Sanskrit language as well and could be roughly rendered in English as The Church of God Siva 's Revealed Truth.…

Since historical times, India has been the breeding ground for various innovative and non-conventional institutes—some of which are remembered even today because of their impact on human behavior and society in general. Even today, educationists consider some of the famous ancient Indian learning institutes, such as Taxila (now in Pakistan) and Nalanda, as one of the highest seats of learning. The concept of Gurukuls (a Vedic school where students, or disciples as they were called, lived along with their teachers) was pioneered in India. Here the “shishya” (the student) devoted his early years in the hands of the “guru” (the teacher)—who guided his entire childhood till he attained maturity and passed on all his learning and wisdoms acquired during the course of life. The common theme around all these delivery methods was to impart an all-round personality development and character building to the individual. And it was this holistic approach towards education and life in general, that India could sustain its lead on economic, social and political front for a long time.…

I didn’t come to school last Monday, which was actually Teacher’s Day. Yes I was too lazy to come to school. Firstly, we’re in the middle of an examination and to add to that, I don’t think most of the teachers want to see me in school. Just so you know, I’m having a little bit of a drama with some of the teachers in this school. What it’s about, I don’t think any of you have to know. So, instead of detention, Amirah wants us to write about what happened on the day itself.…
