Despite the numerous parents and staff that are in favor of the new transition of teachers with guns there are a few that are not as adaptable with this change as others are. Teachers such as Ms. Moffis that stated, “Traditionally in this area, schools have already been a very safe and welcoming community,” referring to teachers having guns in the classroom, she added, “Nobody’s ever thought about needing that kind of thing at school.” This coming from a town that is well versed in handling guns within their own community and training their children at an early age the proper understanding of firearms.…

Guns are not the better outcome of bringing into schools because it does not have that many reasons for keeping it as the negative side do to ban them in a school. Adam Winker was right with his many reasonings of how guns do not bring a better outcome as if there was a law that let people carry guns into schools. People will not feel safer if those who are trying to protect them are the ones that are accidentally shooting them because of a mistake of figuring the…

Many schools are asking themselves if they should go through with training teachers and staff and some schools have started doing so. Even though most schools have not allowed teachers to carry a concealed firearm, some teachers like Kelly Blake, a teacher of agriculture at Fleming School in Colorado, reports that she “wants her students to be protected at all times.” Other teachers along with Blake have looked at the arming teachers situation like this as well because they feel like they have the right to bare arms and protect themselves. As commonly known, protection means a thing, person, or group that protects. In this case, protection is a firearm. Across the United States, conceal and carry is a law that allows a trained licensed owner to possess a weapon for protection in times of desperation. In this generation, school employees should be allowed to conceal and carry, because the potential dangers that schools face could be stopped in a moment’s notice to protect all from harm. An attempt to stop a mass attack is more helpful than ignoring the fact lives are at risk.…

Guns on a school campus is an issue with two clear sides, those who support allowing concealed weapons and those who rally for gun free zones. David Burnett supports the idea of allowing students to carry concealed weapons. Burnett’s central argument is that gun free zones leave students defenseless. Darby Dickerson disagrees, saying students do not understand the responsibilities of owning a weapon and should therefore, not be allowed to carry them on campus.…

What if you were a teacher and an armed intruder came into your school? How would you protect your students and yourself? If we allowed teachers to carry a firearm that is stored in a locked container a student would not be able to acquire the weapon, and only in emergency situations would the teacher be allowed to remove it from the container. If there was to be a situation where an intruder entered the school building the teacher would be able to protect themselves and the students. There should; however, be a…

After various shootings in schools and colleges, gun control laws have been a debate all over the country and all over the news. However, many state legislatures have already decided to obligate colleges and universities to allow “concealed carry”. While on one side laws are being passed to keep guns away from the public, on the other side, guns are being permitted in college campuses. Allowing people to carry guns in college campuses is not the way to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, because the students will have to face additional risks, a healthy learning environment is at stake, and citizens allowed a conceal carry permit aren’t always righteous.…

Should college students and teachers have concealed weapons? A concealed weapon, or a concealed carry (CCW), is when an instrument or device, used for attacking or defending in combat, is hidden when in public. College students that are 21 years old, or above, can legally hold a concealed weapon. In order to carry a concealed weapons, one must purchase a permit and be a resident of their state or country. Schools shouldn't allow concealed weapons because weapons are too dangerous for college students, college students would not use them for safety purposes, and criminals will use this as an opportunity to kill people.…

Imagine a student or instructor being allowed to bring a gun to campus. Imagine what would happen if that student or instructor were having a bad day or had a major disagreement with someone. The possibility that something disastrous could happen is quite real. Measures should be enacted that address such a situation. By banning guns on campuses, tragedies can be prevented. Guns should not be allowed on college campuses because they will increase violence, raise the number of accidental shootings, and create a mood of fear on campuses.…

The conclusion that the paper reaches is that students who have guns will be tempted to use them, especially at universities and colleges that are full of drug use, stress, and anxiety. This paper will take evidence from experts, as well as state rulings to show the two sides of gun control in regards to school campuses in order to answer the question: Should guns be allowed on college campuses?…

On April 16, 2007, Seung Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA in two separate attacks about two hours apart (Mass Shootings at Virginia Tech, 2007; Worth, 2008). Those shots were heard around the world as people tried to grasp one of the deadliest murders in United States history. The Department of Educational Statistics shows that crimes on college campuses exist. Crimes include, but are not limited to, murder, rape, robbery, and assault. It is essential that individuals can feel safe as they are gaining their education. It is interesting that after the Virginia Tech massacre, people were advocating tighter restrictions on gun laws. This is inappropriate, as the problem at hand was not the guns themselves, but rather the mentally ill individual using the guns. Since when do criminal respect gun laws! Perhaps by allowing students and professors to carry weapons, the Virginia Tech massacre could have been diminished and addressed more quickly had students and/or professors been permitted to carry concealed weapons. Permitting concealed weapons could better ensure safety on college and university campuses.…
