Take it all back
In this glorious country, known as the United States of America, there is an abundance of nature all around us at all times. The United States of America is made up of a vast amount of landscape and vegetation, not to mention all of our rivers and lakes, and how can we for forget the wildlife that has an existence on this continent. With the many natural resources that cover this colossal country, the question that pops up in my mind is, “What personal responsibility do we have toward the natural world?”
In history class, I have always been taught that the Native Americans settled down in North American first. Then the English colonists came overseas and launched the search for gold. In the meantime, they began to establish a colony. Ever since I can remember, the Native Americans have forever been the starting point of this country today. Without knowing their survival techniques to this foreign land, none of the settlers would have stuck around to really find out what this lovely piece of land has to offer.
Sometimes I wish the evolution process of this world would start slowing down or even come to an end. I believe we as Americans have everything and a lot more to survive. But for some people that is not good enough. They want to keep cutting down every single tree that is left on this earth and use the space to make money. In the short story called “Eco-Defense” written by Edward Abbey really gives a strong, detailed example on why we should protect the natural resources in the United States of America. The example Abbey gives in the passage is, “If a stranger batters your door down with an axe, threatens your family and yourself with deadly weapons, and proceeds to loot your home of whatever he wants, he is committing what is universally recognized as a crime,” (Abbey 348) would you fight back?
I assume anybody in his or her right mind would eventually protect his

The original hypothesis of how Americans first came to be inhabited is traced backed to the ancient Siberians who crossed from Asia to Alaska by foot, over the land bridge across the Bering Sea. This land bridge was called Beringia, and existed during the final period of the last Ice Age, 15,000 years ago. This trip was possible due to the sea levels during the ice age being hundreds of feet lower than you would find today. During this great migration the Siberian immigrants trenched southward into what would now be considered the lower 48 states. Most of the first settlers in America came from England and considered themselves to be Englishmen. At first they relied on their mother country for money, supplies and protection. As the colony became larger and more populous, people gradually started feeling as if they were a separate nation. By the eve of the Revolution, the colonists were beginning to think like Americans and be unified towards a common goal.…

It wasn’t until the fifteenth century when Natives of the America’s started to begin to unite to create a League of Peace. But many tribes and groups all had their own unique and different political system and also shared common religious characteristics such as ceremonies. Most tribes were controlled by a leader who controlled what families could use certain lands to make a living for themselves and their tribe, but they did not believe in ownership of land as god has gave to them to use and not to own for one self for forever. They had no real authority, they shared their power with their people and believed in showing extremely kind hospitality towards one another and sharing the best of what they had with the tribe. Now, the first to settle…

North American civilization began about 35,000 years ago in the time of the last ice age. A large land mass connecting Eurasia and Alaska brought the first Native American ancestors into North America. As the Ice Age ended, the sea levels rose, submerging the land bridge into the Ocean, thus leaving the ancestors of the Native Americans deserted on a remote continent. After crossing the land bridge, the Native Americans increased and shaped a mixture of cultures and several civilizations.…

    Why Wilderness

In his speech “Why Wilderness?”, Roderick Frazier Nash uses his power of persuasion, knowledge, and personal belief to convey how essential our wilderness is. He is trying to accomplish two things; persuading the reader that wilderness is important enough to put forth an effort into preserving it, and present to the (already pro-wilderness) audience how he believes they should do so. By contrasting the past and present of our wilderness and what we have and haven’t done to keep it, Nash suggests that we are not currently on the correct path. Nash does an excellent job of proving to the reader and the audience that change is in order without bombarding them with negativity.…

Like many countries who have been invaded by a foreign power, Native Americans are also regarded to have been subjected to significant change. When the Europeans first arrived in the late 1400s, they brought with them the intent of not only exploring to find India, but also to find gold and much more wealth. The Europeans made a mistake in their navigation causing them not to arrive in India, but rather what they referred to as the “New World.” The Europeans had stumbled upon the Native Peoples that occupied that place. The Native Peoples were soon to become overpowered and eventually become slaves of the Europeans. With the Europeans now being part of the Native world, they eventually left a significant impact, an impact that affected them influentially, ethnocentrically, and population-wise.…

The European American’s were on a roll of discoveries. From learning there is more to life than the ruling of the king and adopting Enlightenment and democracy to taking the lead in the trading industry with the first landings on the Americas. Their minds then and still today are forward thinking. The English settlement in the Americas was to further their economical growth and commercial industries, not just to have natural land. The Native Americans on the other hand had a strong belief in the natural land as many of their religious beliefs are founded on the magic of mother nature and what it provides. The natural elements of mother nature such as the animals, the sticks, the stars were often brought into religious beliefs and ceremonies.…

The foundation of America has had many significant people such as the early American settlers and war patriots contribute to it. Although, people tend to forget the significance of Native Americans when they talk about the foundation. Without the Native Americans, America wouldn’t be where it is today. Native Americans contributed to the American life and culture in multiple ways. The contribution of Native Americans should be recognized more today because they help with the idea of a constitution, they gave similar principles for their people, and they set an example for America of how they should run their nation.…

Numerous years before Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas there were individuals living in North America. The Native American individuals, also called American Indians, had been living on the landmass of North America for a long time and the Americas found that there were more than 10 million Native Americans effectively living on the continent. Once the Europeans touched base in America things turned out to be much different. As time passed the Native American deteriorated. They were constrained off their properties and pushed further and further west with several promises being made that were never kept. There were many conflicts that occurred and wound up beginning the Indian Wars. To illustrate this point, the Native American’s…
