It has in a long term assumption though mentioned that these supernatural beings exist and have supernatural powers which a normal human being does not possess. The Other Mother in the film as well has an image which is not any close to the look of normal beings and her character of getting people from the normal world to her imaginative home provide a clear picture of the operation of ghosts and their world.
