Superconductivity
I am writing to inform you of a recent economic opportunity that could leave you rich if you choose to invest. The prospect of wealth relies on superconductors- the system of the future and present. You could earn millions by contributing to the research of superconductors. Superconductors consist of an element, inter-metallic alloy, or compound that will conduct electricity without resistance (loss of energy flowing through the material) below a certain temperature. Once in motion, electrical current will flow forever in a closed loop of superconducting material, hence the high demand of such a product. The development of superconductors has been a working progress for many years and some superconductors are already in use, but there is always room for improvement. In 1911, Dutch physicist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes first discovered superconductivity when he cooled mercury to 4 degrees K (-452.47º F / -269.15º C). At this temperature, mercury's resistance to electricity seemed to disappear. Hence, it was necessary for Onnes to come within 4 degrees of the coldest temperature that is theoretically attainable to witness the phenomenon of superconductivity. Later, in 1933 Walter Meissner and Robert Ochsenfeld discovered that a superconducting material will repel a magnetic field. A magnet moving by a conductor induces currents in the conductor, which is the principle upon which the electric generator operates. However, in a superconductor the induced currents exactly mirror the field that would have otherwise penetrated the superconducting material - causing the magnet to be repulsed- known today as the "Meissner effect." The Meissner effect is so strong that a magnet can actually be levitated over a superconductive material, which increases the use of superconductors. After many other superconducting elements, compounds, and theories related to superconductivity were developed or discovered a great breakthrough was made. In 1986, Alex Muller and Georg

    American Superconductor

American Superconductor is a company which develops technologies and solutions for electric power. The organization decided to utilize an equity financing accounting principle in their businesses decisions which was fairly controversial as many believe that is not a wise way for a business to operate. Skeptics of debt financing believe that the risks are too high. For example, the company would still be obligated to pay back loans regardless of whether the business survives. In addition, they may face high interest rates and they may be required to provide cash or collateral before utilizing equity. Also, the decision may destroy the company 's credit rating as they will constantly be displayed as in debt. In addition, when utilizing money from investors, startup companies are unlikely to benefit from equity financing because investors are not likely to invest in this type of un-established business. Therefore, this not an ideal option for new businesses. These are some of the disadvantages in which American Superconductor may face in this decision. However, American Superconductor 's risky…

Electricity is conducted through a conductor, in this case wire, by means of free electrons. The number of free electrons depends on the material and more free electrons means a better conductor, i.e. it has less resistance. For example, gold has more free electrons than iron and, as a result, it is a better conductor. The free electrons are given energy and as a result move and collide with neighbouring free electrons. This happens across the length of the wire and thus electricity is conducted. Resistance is the…

In the last year on his life, Tesla unveiled a secret “teleforce” weapon to the government that was ignored at the time, and in 1993 the United States actually began researching the project. Shortly after dying in his sleep in 1943, it was proved that Marconi even used Tesla’s designs in his transmission of the signal across the Atlantic Ocean. Now, in the 21st century, we do celebrate Tesla’s life more than in the past. The unit of measure magnetic field strength is known as the Tesla (T), and the Nikola Tesla Museum of Science was built in Belgrade, Serbia (Berardinis 7). Although his success is becoming more known, everything Tesla believed should be researched much more closely, and children growing up should be taught more of his findings. Many credible scientists today believe that the financial failure of Tesla could have halted the potential for a complete revolution in electronics, magnetics, and radio transmission. It is very possible that with the technologies of the 21st century and the proper funding, Tesla’s research could lead to such a…

r so you might have thought. You see the magnet was rather discovered the created. Long ago (about 4,000 years or so) in Greece the was a shepherd by the name of Magnus, he was watching over his flock of sheep when his metal pole got stuck to the rock he was standing on, along with the nails that held his sandals together. He then discovered he was standing on what was called a lodestone which contained a metal called “Magnesium”. Magnesium is a material or object that produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field is invisible but is responsible for the most notable property of a magnet- a force that pulls on other ferromagnetic (Metals that have an attraction to magnetization) Metals, such as iron, and attracts…

    E. Foxworth, assistant director of the New York FBI office, was called in to investigate. According to Foxworth, the government was "vitally interested" in preserving Tesla 's papers. Two days after Tesla 's death, representatives of the Office of Alien Property went to his room at the New Yorker Hotel and seized all his possessions. Dr. John G. Trump, an electrical engineer with the National Defense Research Committee of the Office of Scientific Research and Development, was called in to analyze the Tesla papers in OAP custody. Following a three-day investigation, Dr. Trump concluded: “His [Tesla 's] thoughts and efforts during at least the past 15 years were primarily of a speculative, philosophical, and somewhat promotional character often concerned with the production and wireless transmission of power; but did not include new, sound, workable principles or methods for realizing such results.” (Cheney, Uth, & Glen, 1999)…
