Abstract Nikola Tesla was the most underappreciated scientist of all time. In spite of his lack of funding, trust, and support; Tesla was one of the most successful inventors that the world has ever seen. From AC generators to wireless transmission of electricity to invisible death rays; Tesla envisioned countless world changing inventions. With proper funding and support, we can only speculate how many more theories he would have successfully tested.

Tesla’s work, the wheels of industry would cease to turn, our electric cars and trains would stop, our towns would be dark, our mills would be dead and idle. Yes, so far reaching is his work that it has become the warp and woof of industry. The name of Tesla marks an epoch in the advance of electrical science. From that work has sprung a revolution.” (Vujic, Marincic, Ercegovac, Milovanovic, 2001) Nikola Tesla attained hundreds of patents for revolutionary inventions and had countless of others ideas that never made it that far. E. Foxworth, assistant director of the New York FBI office, was called in to investigate. According to Foxworth, the government was "vitally interested" in preserving Tesla 's papers. Two days after Tesla 's death, representatives of the Office of Alien Property went to his room at the New Yorker Hotel and seized all his possessions. Dr. John G. Trump, an electrical engineer with the National Defense Research Committee of the Office of Scientific Research and Development, was called in to analyze the Tesla papers in OAP custody. Following a three-day investigation, Dr. Trump concluded: “His [Tesla 's] thoughts and efforts during at least the past 15 years were primarily of a speculative, philosophical, and somewhat promotional character often concerned with the production and wireless transmission of power; but did not include new, sound, workable principles or methods for realizing such results.” (Cheney, Uth, & Glen, 1999)
The U.S. Government began experimenting with “beam weapons” shortly after WWII and has continued to do so until today. If they would have only funded him while he was alive to work on the projects maybe we would have a working weapon
