Summary Of The Happiness House
Lakshmi is thirteen , she goes to school but she desire to go out and work in the city and be a maid for rich people, so she can help her family with the money problems. When Lakshmi was desiring to be a maid in the city her step father sold her into prostitution for one hundred rupees . Lakshmi feels heartbroken and distraught that her stepfather had done that to her .
She has so many questions for her stepfather trying to understand.
Lakshmi was sold to a lady named Mumtaz . Mumtaz was the owner of the “Happiness House“ and she was explaining Lakshmi how things were run in the house and if she didn't follow as she was told bad things will happen to her .

Patricia McCormick is telling us in the book Sold that this a normal thing that young girls and women go through everyday in Nepal being treated like they aren't worth nothing
,beaten , sexually abused , and tortured. This is not okay . I feel as young girl too women should be respected and cared for not treaded like an animal ,but like an actual human being. I'm glad that the author wrote this story so I can understand what's going on different parts of the world.

In today's world we people complain and say “ how hard life is “ or “ my life sucks “ ,but there is people all over the world who lives are much complicated then yours. While people are living there lives with no care in the world there are others who are trying to survive and fight another day to live and I respect those who do have to go through
