Summary Of Macbeth By Roman Polanski
“The actor's performances, while far from classic, are not detrimental to the film, though his choice to portray Lady Macbeth as soft-spoken and quiet downplays the manipulative nature Shakespeare established for her in the play... In an effort to preserve realism in the film, director Roman Polanski opted to change the traditional conveyance of Shakespeare's soliloquies and asides... The opening scene with the witches was rather poorly done. Polanski made the women look so grotesquely ugly that they distracted the audience from the important plot element of the scene: what they were saying. Unfortunately, this too was clouded: their screeching voices and constant giggling made them difficult to understand. A witness to the film unfamiliar

For my film analysis, I was fortunate that there many different adaptations of the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Most of them are set in the period of the play, like Roman Polanski’s 2002 version, which I also viewed and found to be disappointing at best. The only good thing was the realism of the sword fighting. Realistically clumsy in their armor, which was amusing, but other than that, dull, dull, dull. Instead, I opted to view and analyze the more modern version from 2006. The 2006 version of Macbeth was adapted by Geoffrey Wright and Victoria Hill, produced by the same team and also directed by Geoffrey Wright. Victoria Hill also happens to play the role of Lady Macbeth.…

The representations of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth and the witches are different between the film and the play. We can see that in the film, Lady Macbeth is beautiful, avaricious, and also seems to be cold. However, in the play Lady Macbeth is very sexually provocative to the audience. It is very clear that Lady Macbeth uses her sex to manipulate Macbeth, so that we feel the full force of her of her taunts of “If thou were a man”. Macbeth is heroic at the beginning and has a stronger sense of his guilt than we get from the play. In the play, Macbeth is called “brave Macbeth”. In the film, the witches are old women. In the play we are told that they have a beard as Banquo says in act two scene one,…

He delivers Shakespeare’s language with as much power as Sorkin’s lines earlier this year in Steve Jobs. His anger is visceral, his pain is heart-wrenching, his drive is palpable. Marion Cotillard is at her English-language best as Lady Macbeth. She is villainous, sexual, and sympathetic. The rest of the supporting cast does a commendable job with the admittedly dense source material. Duncan and Macduff are standouts, but there is not a single bad performance in the film.…

Renowned play, “Macbeth” written by William Shakespeare in 1606, is one of the most prestigious dramas to date. While Shakespeare is obviously one of the most well known and influential writers ever, I've always had an issue with his play Macbeth. When I first read it in seventh grade, I decided that maybe I didn't like it because I simply didn't get it, being a seventh grader; however, after recently rereading it in an attempt to change my mind and see a new side to the book, I found my opinion unchanged. While clearly famous for its portrayal of the consequences of unchecked ambition and its commentary on the human experience, Macbeth fails to properly address women. Unless the lack of developed female characters in the play is meant to be a sly comment on the dismissal of women in society, Macbeth has failed at conveying the complex expectations and pressures that are so prevalent in Lady Macbeth’s life.…

The portrayal and function of the witches in the original play of MacBeth and the movie have several diffrences. In the play the witches are discribed as ugly things with beards and are outcasts of society that wear black robes. But in the movie the witches are very creepy. They have a more modern day horror film look. The witches are no showed as witches but as nurses with masks and black framed glasses. Not only are they shown as nurses (witches) but they are kitchen staff, serving women and cleaning maids too. Also throughout the movie the witches are roaming around in the background of pretty much every scene. It gives a feeling that they are there constantly to ensure the MacBeth and his wife, Lady MacBeth, fulfill their tasks that needed to be done.…

Shakespeare’s screenplay MacBeth is a tale about deception, treachery, and a slain king. It is the story of a subject who murders his king so that he can claim the throne. He then goes mad with power and is then is killed by one of his subjects in a spit of irony. There are also underlying themes in the play that hint at Shakespear not being pleased with being appeased by the king of england. Also by reading this play the audience can infer some of Shakespeare's beliefs on morality. He conveys these beliefs in the way that his characters act and speak in McBeth. Some of the characters that are only looking out for themselves are Macbeth, The Mercenaries, and Macduff. The morality Shakespeare is displaying in Macbeth is that people are only trying to benefit themselves.…
