My first insight for Study #9 begins with “The Book of Acts often called “The Witness Book” which I have never heard stated that way nor had I paid any attention to the number of times the word witness appeared in the Book of Acts. I also liked the profound statement made that said “you cannot be a witness without witnessing”. Now, that makes perfectly good sense to me.
I also thought the illustration of the High Priest’s robe in the Old Testament symbolizing witnessing or was a ringing testimony for the Lord. As a member of the royal priesthood (1Pet. 2:9), our witnessing should be a ringing testimony for Jesus Christ, the Lord of Salvation. Our witnessing is not limited to a specific location but is

Pride goes before the fall, and one of Satan’s favorite weapons is the pride of life. Satan is an expert in this area as he fell like lightning from heaven (Luke 10:18) full of pride.
Discouragement can stop you before you get started as most of us professed witnesses fall easily into using this as an excuse for not being on the battlefield fighting for lost souls. Feelings of I am not good enough or I do not speak well or I do not have the gift of evangelism or God did not call me to go, send the pastor are all excuses that breed discouragement and renders them to a defeated posture caused by lies and deceit from the evil one.
While Study #9 points out how great an evangelist the Apostle Paul was, there was another man greater than him. The Apostle Paul knew Him well and had no problem exalting His name which is Jesus Christ. In Study #10, there is no end to the lifting up of the name of the Lord, Son of God and Son of Man by the Apostle Paul. He knew the master teacher and the master evangelist who preached with power and authority on a personal and intimate basis. There was none like Him and there will never be any to match His matchless evangelistic

When one views the life of the Apostle Paul in the New Testament it is evident that he had a heart to disciple others. The evidence at hand identified Paul as more than an individual who had doctrinal knowledge, for he was the quintessential model for living out the standards of Christian behavior. In his letter to the Church of Philippi Paul encourage them to “Whatever…

    2. Suppose you are intrigued by Acts chapter 1:9-11. Process the surrounding context per information in chapter 6 of Duvall. Note that “immediate context” and “surrounding context” are synonymous terms. We mainly study the Bible by paragraphs. A paragraph presents one idea and one or more supporting ideas. In your investigation of your target passage (Acts 1:9-11) determine what the author is communicating in the preceding passage and the following passage. How do the two surrounding context elements (preceding and following) contribute to the meaning of the target passage? Of course one studies the historical context (what occurred) but what is the theological import of Acts 1:9-11 in light of your context study? This question allows you to “practice” processing a surrounding context. Spend a bit more time and space in answering this question.…

The gift of Tongues has been becoming more and more popular over the past 10 years. Christians appear to have differing views on the matter. Some think it is a sign of the HOLY SPIRIT, other think it is a manifestation of demonic forces. There are Bible verses to support both of these opinions, so the issues can become rather confusing. This paper is meant to show exactly everything that the Book of Acts mentions on the subject of tongues. This paper doesn’t refer to any other parts in the Bible regarding tongues. There are three different incidences in the Book of Acts that refers to speaking in tongues. First in Acts 2:4, 6-11 at the day of Pentecost, then in Acts 10:46 at the conversion of Cornelius, and finally in Acts 19:6 at the baptism of the 12 men in Ephesus. I am going to look solely at these events in order to study exactly what the Book of Acts says about tongues.…

The apostle Paul, also known as “Saul of Tarsus,”, is the apostle to the Gentiles. (Romans 11:131 and Galatians 2:8).2 (You can use parenthetical citation for Scripture, as you did here, without having to also cite them in the endnotes.) In order for us to understand how God ordained his apostleship to the Gentiles, we must first understand his background.…

While Satan’s humane emotions were demonstrated earlier in the narrative, his soliloquy further explicates the complexity of his thoughts. Throughout the first few books, Satan does not demonstrate any vulnerabilities. He is glorified as an obstinate and prideful Spirit who surpasses all others in Hell and who knows exactly what he yearns. Though Satan’s abilities are of no question, this one-sided view of Satan – that he is a competent and powerful devil – appears lacking; therefore, the demonstration of Satan’s vulnerability in his soliloquy is a progression in his character development. Satan finally senses “horror and doubt,” and is drenched in grief by his “remembrance from what state [he] fell” (4:17, 38-39). This is the first time Satan is described to have self-doubt, and specifically, in…

    Second Timothy Analysis

In verses ten through seventeen, as a response to these evil men, Paul gives Timothy two vital resources to help him defend against any kind of attack. The first resource being Paul’s personal lifestyle example, and the second being the Word of God. Paul begins unpacking Timothy’s arsenal of resources by bringing into remembrance nine specific qualities that the young minister had observed in the life of the apostle, and that stand in contrast to the list in the preceding verses. Heading the list are teaching (doctrine) and conduct, both of which are at the root of the problems faced in Ephesus and as a result are “the most significant aspects of Paul’s ministry relative to Timothy’s historical situation.” It is also important to note that the remainder of the list: purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, persecutions and suffering, are an outflowing of these two and make up a complete package of Paul’s character. It is not with pride, but excessive humility, that Paul offers his life as an example to Timothy and wishes him to emulate it. By pursuing a godly lifestyle, Timothy will be able to stand against any assault on his character. Paul follows this by noting locations where he had received harsh treatment for proclaiming the…

The New Testament begins with Paul’s three missionary journeys, in which his mission was to plant churches and teachings about the Lord. There are several different types of advertising in the world today, like newspaper ads and magazine ads. Then there are commercials, they can be very manipulative in persuading specific audiences to buy their products. In the Pepsi Next “Dancing Baby” commercial, they use what is called a trick image. It is the funniest part of the commercial and is what makes it so appealing. This trick image is the baby in the back ground dancing and doing tricks; it is very eye catching and hilarious in my opinion. This commercial uses different types of appeals to make it more interesting. The husband and wife mention some of the statistics about the product to help enhance Pepsi Next. The target audience is parents of children six months to one year of age and new mothers trying to lose weight. This commercial affects me positively because it is funny and the statistics are true.…
