Study Hall: Too Cool For School What do students complain about the most? Aside from idiotic dress codes, nonsensical food and drink rules, and lack of time between class changes, the most common thing that students complain about is homework. However, with the inclusion of a study hall, students could catch up on their homework, have a much needed break, and have more free time outside of school. One could argue that a study hall would be ineffective because it would be hard to get students to actually do work and not talk and slack off. However, if study hall were structured in such a way that promotes studying, it could be possible to reduce slacking. Furthermore, even if students talk, it is still beneficial because students need a break from working constantly, because constant work can be taxing on the student’s brain, which can lead to stress, which

If students did their homework in study hall, they could potentially get help from their peers, which is shown to be one of the effective methods for students to learn. Peer review/study sessions are very beneficial to student learning. Students need a break because constant work throughout the day limits engagement and makes it harder to concentrate by the end of the day. In the afternoon, most students will start getting sleepy, because they are bogged down from 6 to 7 hours of work with minimum break.
For example, as stated by a Stanford University article, a high quality break program can help students feel more engaged, and have more positive feeling about school (Parker). This is exceedingly beneficial because highly engaged students are more attentive and do better in school. This is obviously beneficial to the school as
