Stress
Summary - Bad stress, good stress:
Various people find it problematic to deal with their stress. The English Government announced in in the year 2004 that stress had cost the UK economy £13.4 billion that year due to ineffective production and illness. Stress is described as an inappropriate reaction to disproportionate demands or pressure. Coping with stress is a matter of containing feelings of for example fear and allowing one self to feel it. It is necessary to have some good relations. Those individuals who become victims of their stress are frightened of appearing like a fool and of their feelings. Because of that, they avoid critical situations and can therefore never build up the experience that might make them capable of coping with their stress. They lose sight of the overall picture and their sense of compassion and consideration. Courses are being held in order to solve all these problems. But each one of us needs some degree of stress. We need it to grow.

Outline of various stress-related problems in the four texts:
The article by Eilish O´Reagan, emphases on which workplaces cause stress and why. Individuals that cannot express their true feelings on their job appear to be more stressful than those who can. Individuals that look forward are less stressed than those who dwell on the past.
The article by Sacha Bonsor focuses on “good stress and bad stress”. We will break down if we don’t face our stress and learn how to tackle it.
The Internet article about stress briefly describes the family life and how a number of countless self-chosen activities can cause stress and that individuals therefore don’t get the rest of what they should during their spare time.
The article by James Burleigh informs us of how stress affects the body. A small amount of stress is healthy for you, but long lasting stress will weaken the immune system.

I tried cutting out activities, only to fill the spaces with new projects. I learned different stress management techniques, but found that they caused more stress for an unknown reason. I felt stuck and hopeless when it occurred to me that I cannot solve a problem by treating the symptoms. I had to find the source, the soft underbelly, to improve. Taking a deep breath, I reflected on why I stressed over insignificant events. My answer was surprising, I did not stress because I feared the future. What I feared was failure.…

Stress is part of daily life, more in some people’s lives than others. Not one person can compare their stresses with other’s as they do not know how another person deals with situations internally. My stress may seem more prevalent than that of others, and here I may be keeping a negative situation stoked with that mindset. Identifying what stresses me out, learning how to cope and overcome, and taking steps to do so is the right steps to achieving some of my values and goals.…

In my opinion, stress is not the major issue in our society. How we deal, or rather, how we cope is the problem most individuals have. Coping is the process of how we as individuals “alleviate stress using emotional, cognitive, or behavioral methods” (Myers 2010, 538). Coping can either be healthy or unhealthy; it is what determines the difference between feeling all…

Stress is a condition that everyone encounters at one time or another in their life. It is unavoidable and is responsible for many negative effects on the physical and emotional health of a person. But what is stress? “Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way” (Stress Symptoms, Signs, and Causes). This definition is an accurate way to describe how many Americans feel when it comes to stress. However, small quantities of stress can have a positive affect to motivate and encourage people to be more productive. Still everyone can agree that a great deal of stress can be very destructive to a person’s life. According to many physicians, stress can cause people to have many physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional symptoms (Stress Symptoms, Signs, and Causes). Yet people wonder why stress occurs? In today’s society the main causes of stress are produced from work, financial issues, and academic pressures. It is important to have the knowledge of common stressors so that people can devise a plan to overcome them.…

As we have seen, positive stress adds anticipation and excitement to life, and we all thrive under a certain amount of stress. Deadlines, competitions, confrontations, and even our frustrations and sorrows add depth and enrichment to our lives. Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it and how to use it to help us. Insufficient stress acts as a depressant and may leave us feeling bored or dejected; on the other hand, excessive stress may leave us feeling "tied up in knots." What we need to do is find the optimal level of stress which will individually motivate but not overwhelm each of us. There is no single level of stress that is optimal for all people. We are all individual creatures with unique requirements. As such, what is distressing to one may be a joy to another. And even when we agree that a particular event is distressing, we are likely…

“Stress is not what happens to us. It is our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose.” This sagacious saying was quoted by Dr. Maureen Killoran, a certified universalist and an advocate on health and wellness. The quotation imparts to us that stress is not altogether negative as what most people would think at first. It still depends on how an individual sees and copes with the stress placed upon him. If you perceive potentially stressful events as a challenge instead of a threat, less stress will most likely result. Stress does not have to control your life because it can be managed. Measure has to be taken, someone, namely negative attitude person, would rather than escape everything, or course it is wrong. For instance, according to survey 1, some people, under the stress of high demanding, got lost and found their target helplessly, therefore they nearly disaggregated, and then indulged themselves in drugs, giving up their life.
