Stealing Is Bad
As a major problem being in the world today with more advancing electronics coming in smaller and smaller shapes, stealing is becoming a larger epidemic than ever. Unfortunately, thieves are hard to spot. As in our case right now we all must suffer. Giving a good reason not to steal as to not make all fellow peers and innocents suffer. Along with the possible grief or financial issues placed upon the victim(s). While it may seem no big deal to any person, or even a small crime, the ever lasting effects can be quite substantiating. For instance, a stolen item may lead to trust issues, or in a child’s case, the parents no longer trust the child. And while this is only a small amount that goes into effect, things like possible future insurance, and having to use a paycheck for something unintended may lead to longer term effects. Stealing people’s property is just something not to be done. You’re not only hurting the innocents, and the victim, but also yourself. If you can be caught you will lose reputation and possibly gain infamy. It’s bad enough you have harmed everyone else, now you are harming yourself. Stealing causes a wide spread amount of harm and panic even. In short, stealing will harm economic, mental, and even physical (depending on the item stolen i.e. a walker or wheel chair) harm to others and yourself. Being a well privileged child and fortunate enough for my parents to sometimes even spoil me, I had a very nice mp3 player in eighth grade. I had used it for over a year and was very happy to have it, until I decided to go out for a walk. I was walking with a friend and told her to wait for me as I had to use the restroom. Upon coming back from my short break, I had found out that night my mp3 player had mysteriously been misplaced. Being my usual friendly self, I thought I had just dropped it. I walked back the next day and scanned the short dry grasses for the shining silver gift I had come to think as my only escape route from stress and the world.

So I was stuck with my parents old ragged Samsung Galaxy S3. The next week we went to Colorado for a family vacation to Keystone Colorado. We went skiing for 6 hours straight and my whole family was tired. When we returned to the condo we ate lunch and the smell of hamburgers and frijoles was in the air. When we were about to leave I had to go to the restroom. “SPLASH!” it heard as my phone dropped in the toilet. I was thinking what will my parents reaction would be this time. My parents ended up madder at me this time but I promised if I got a new phone I would be more responsible.…

Behaviors such as transferring files from a work device to a home computer that is not protected or maintained to IT’s standards, using personal communications that are not as safe as corporate communications, talking about sensitive company matters where others can hear the conversation, and failing to use a laptop privacy guard when working remotely in a public place all invite information theft. Employees also fail to safeguard equipment such as laptop computers and portable storage devices, which can be lost or stolen (Cisco Systems, 2008, p 5).…

The crime of larceny was developed to punish the taking of property in nonviolent face-to-face encounters, and to set it apart from Robbery. Robbery involved some measure of violence in connection with theft, and the courts did not feel that a nonviolent theft should warrant the same punishment. Larceny was nevertheless punished severely. A person convicted of larceny could receive the death penalty or be sentenced to many years in prison.…

I agree, I think about if no one had their possessions; their houses, cars, cell phones, Jordan’s, computers, ETC. What reason would there be for a thief? What would make a man envy another enough to try and destroy them? Sure, crime would still exist but it wouldn’t be at the same level it is now. I believe that people, in order to survive, would rely more on building relationships with other people.…

Felson’s ten fallacies about crime tell us that common crimes are quickly and easily committed and everyone could be criminals when the temptation of a criminal act has outreached the incentives of obeying the law (Sacco & Kennedy, 2008, p.15-16). When a person sees an illegal opportunity to acquire something valuable, e.g. unattended goods, with very little possibility of getting caught, he/she would probably take it for his/her own desire. In this process, a crime is formed with a likely offender, a suitable target, and the absence of a capable guardian. These three elements above are the basic structure of many crimes in our everyday life. If we add a capable guardian in the structure or make the target less attractive towards the…

This is an easier crime in which to establish a strategic plan that would put an end to such crimes. There are four types of crimes that are classified as a property crime, they are burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Property crimes involve the taking of money or property and are high volume crimes with the target often being cash, electronics, such as televisions, power tools, cameras, and jewelry. According to the statistics from the F.B.I’s Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report, January - June of 2012, “The number of violent crimes reported by law enforcement for the first six months of 2012 increased 1.9 % over the figures from the same time period in 2011. Property crimes rose 1.5%.” To further break down this figure, there was a 1.9% increase in larceny-theft crimes, 1.7% increase for motor vehicle theft, and 0.1% increase for burglary. A long time ago, when I was about 5 or 6 years old, we were in the car when my dad saw a piano on the side of the road with a “free” sign on it. Dad thought my sister and I should have one, so he brought a bunch of his friends together and they brought it home. I became excited. The piano sounded way out of tune and the white paint was chipped, but it remained a beautiful instrument in my eyes. We cleaned it up and then moved it to the very end of the living room, where it remained for many years.…

Today shoplifting is one of the most common forms of theft in the United States. Shoplifting is now the number one cause for smaller stores to fail in today's market. The small stores are also the ones the usually carry the smaller items which are the easiest to receive the "five fingered discount" on. The reason shoplifting has become so big is because the thieves some how justify their actions and they also don't consider themselves thieves. The most common shoplifters are children and the senior citizens. It is the housewives and the college students that some how justify their stealing and don't consider themselves thieves.…

According to safewise.com, “In 2015, a property crime occurred every 3.9 seconds in the U.S”. This increases the concern of having the proper safety for one’s belongings. The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines property crime as offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson. Vandalism is also a crime, but it has not been reported to the UCR. These offenses don’t involve a force or threat of force to victims, but it’s generally someone looking at the potential benefits that could be derived from taking someone else’s money or property. Things such as electronics, jewelry, vehicles and sentimental items are very expensive to buy and to replace so it’s important to do…

Crime is a major problem in America and it all leads back to poverty. In the words of Aristotle, “Poverty is the parent of crime,” but was he right? People who tend to have a lower income, or people who have no money, tend to have to steal just to get what they need to survive. In the same way,…

I bought my first CD when I was about 10 years old. My mom had drove me to Target and allowed me to purchase one CD of my choosing; I chose Now 11. I spent what felt like hours scouring the aisles of the store looking for the 11th edition of Now That’s What I Call Music and finally found it on the shelf. I remember being filled with excitement and anticipation as we drove home; I was so anxious to put it into my CD player. I remember the only reason I wanted it was because there was a few rap songs my brother listened to on it. Since my mother didn’t allow me to listen to his music, I knew this was a great way to slide it past her. I will never forget that CD; I listened to it for days on end. As I played the CD, I poured over the insert book, reading the lyrics and singing along. Today if I wanted to own that same Now 11 CD the experience would be entirely different. A few simple searches on the Internet would lead me to various file-sharing websites where I could easily download the album for free. Instant gratification. I wouldn’t have to look through aisles, no waiting in line, and no money necessary.…

It's not the apocalypse so you can’t do just do whatever you want. Would you steal for the right reason? Would you feel guilty afterward? You shouldn’t steal regardless of whether someone is in need. There are consequences involved with being immoral. Doing the wrong thing for the right reason is wrong because, there are many ways to help a person in need without stealing from anyone. If you had morals that you follow then you decided to not follow them, then this could cause guilt that would most likely stay without for a while.…
