Stay Gold Ponyboy Analysis
Johnny’s last words to Ponyboy were,”stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold…” Johnny meant by this that he wanted Ponyboy to stay the same and not change. Johnny says on page 148,”stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold…” this relates to the poem that Ponyboy tells him on page 77. He means this because in the poem Ponyboy says it goes natures first green is gold bult nothing gold can stay. That’s why Johnny wants Ponyboy to stay himself for as long as long as he lives because he is a really good kid. I believe that Johnny doesn’t want to change that’s why he says this before he dies.
