Statement Of Purpose: The Four Pillars Of National Honor Society
Throughout my high school career, my aspirations through have evolved into a set of goals based on the four pillars of National Honor Society—scholarship, service, leadership and character—that will guide me through college.
Academics serve as the basis for growth in my career goals. I enjoy and excel in mathematics and science classes, but I hoped to select a field of study in college that also embodies my creative pursuits. For years, I separated my logical and creative passions, never considering that they could combine. Engineering arose as the perfect solution to unite logic and creativity through scientific and design principles.

Volunteering for service hours changed my outlook on life. I worked with the Hydrocephalus Association in both eleventh and twelfth grade. The Hydrocephalus Association focuses on three things community, clarity, and cure. Hydrocephalus is a condition defined by an abnormal, excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the cavities of the brain. Some people with this condition can live a normal life being unnoticeable while other have difficulties. The association works on awareness to find a cure, clarity in helping families further understand the condition, and a community which will always be supportive. Service hours can sometimes be a hassle but once I started volunteering with that association it became fun because I was…

A highly respected organization such as the National Honors Society is very significant to me. The scholarships and programs offered by this organization helps increase my ability to get the education that I desire that I might not have been able to receive due to the rapidly rising costs of college. My community involvement includes volunteer work through National Honor Society. A yearly activity that I assisted in starting for National Honor Society includes the canned food drive where we have averaged collecting around 400 cans a year for the local food pantry. I was also the master of ceremony at the Veterans Day Assembly this year and lead the rest of the members in the ceremony. Through National Honor Society, I singlehandedly started a Cardiac Ball and a Red Out at a basketball game at Durant High School where the proceeds went straight to the American Heart Association. My community involvement also includes work through student council such as the community blood drive that was hosted at Durant High School. Throughout my four…

During my under graduate program I learned the different fundamentals of electrical and electronics which were well-balanced with practical exposure. Right from my school days I had an active interest for science and research. As a matter of fact, I used to be awed by science and the role it plays in every moment of our lives.
