Star Crossed Lovers In the novel “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” some may say that their relationship was doomed from the beginning. Many unfortunate events took place in both Romeo and Juliet's lives. Whether the events that took place was their fault is the real question at hand. The actual definition of fate is the development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power. So in the case of Romeo and Juliet it's a matter of choosing what events were the love blind youths fault and where fate stepped in.
It would be appropriate to say fate was not in Romeo and Juliet's favor. Due to the fact that they both died so early in life, but one would know that fate was not to blame in the matter of the couples death. Both Romeo and Juliet decided to die to be with each other. “ Well,Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight (Shakespeare 34).” This quote shows that since Romeo thought Juliet was dead he would die to be with her to. So death was Romeo’s choice. Then, not even five minutes later Juliet wakes up from her faux death to find her lover dead. Then, she gets the bright idea to join him. “Haply some poison yet doth hang on them to make me die with a restorative(Shakespeare 165,166).” This shows that the day they …show more content…
“ From ancient grudge break to new mutiny.(Shakespeare 3).” This quote refers the fact that the Montague and Capulet's long feud that has been alive before Romeo and Juliet. Common sense would say they should not have fallen in love in the first place, but as the definition of fate says, they could not control it. “Too early seen unknown, and known too late.(Shakespeare 141)”. In this quote Juliet just had found out that her only love was sprung from her only hate. The fact that Rosaline did not love Romeo back was another factor to review in this
