Even though you may deserve to get more you can learn life lessons for just that. Even though competitive sports is about participation it is all about how hard you work and how hard you try. If your team gets last in a tourney, that does not matter to you it matters how you think you did it how the whole team did. If you think you should get something for participating you should turn around and start over. You need to put some effort into some practices then you will get something but I don't know.

In the New York Times article ¨Do We Give Kids Too Many Trophies?¨ by Michael Gonchar says ¨If children always receive a trophy - regardless of effort or achievement - we're teaching that losing is so terrible that we can never let it happen.¨It also says that¨In study of Gold Medal Olympians, they said that a loss was key to their championships.¨ This shows that if we give kids trophies, then we are teaching kids the wrong lesson that losing is horrible even though losing is sometimes key to a victory. What if everyone got a reward for everything they did in life, would it have any real value to the award? Participation trophies are being handed out to every young athlete without any true meaning, which is sending the wrong message to these young athletes. If every young athlete gets a trophy, the less meaning each trophy will show. Which also leads to the false belief behind each participation award. Many might disagree with me and think rewarding young athletes with participation trophies is beneficial to improving on skills, which can be correct but is it really worth wasting money from the team funds on something useless? According to "Trophies For All" policy, youth athletes are being awarded with participation trophies. Participation trophies shouldn't just be handed out, it should be earned.…

One reason high school sports aren’t beneficial is because they create a lot of pressure. According to the video “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” by KCRA, sports are sometimes the only way students can get into a good college and be able afford it. This puts a lot of pressure on the athletes to perform at their best 100% of the time. Experts say that your child's entire team will suffer if the parents are pressuring their kids (KCRA.com, “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” ). This fact is important because it proves, when parents put pressure on their children it does not benefit them, in fact it is actually setting them up for life in an unhealthy way. This shows that the pressure from sports is not good and not worth it.…

Activities and sports in schools is a great way for students to be involved, and to be active. I have done research and there hasn’t been one article I found on why sports shouldn’t be in schools. Having athletic programs and activities in schools are very helpful for students health, it develops team work, helps develop discipline and also perfection. School administrators, and parents, generally support high school activity programs because of the positive effect these activities appear to have on students of both genders. (Braddock P.1)…

This way, kids who never give up on their dream will try harder to become successful. In addition, children learn how to work with different people with different personalities and strengths (Chessman). This is important because…
